Production plans are created to give the factory direction.
Yet, in many companies, priorities change almost every day.
An urgent order arrives. A material is delayed. A machine stops. A customer changes a delivery date. One department produces faster than expected while another falls behind.
Changing priorities is not always a sign of poor planning.

Manufacturing operates in a constantly changing environment, and the production system must be able to react.
The real problem begins when every change is managed manually, without visibility of its consequences across the factory.

A new priority in one department can create shortages, excess work-in-progress or new bottlenecks somewhere else.
Good production management is not about following the original plan at any cost.
It is about adapting the plan without losing control of the overall flow.

Production tracking before digital systems

Production visibility did not begin with tablets, dashboards or modern MES platforms.
Anzani Machinery was already equipping its production systems with time-control devices in 1966, helping manufacturers monitor operations and manage production more consistently.
The technology was very different from what factories use today, but the objective was already clear: understand what was happening on the production floor and turn production time into useful information.
Over the decades, mechanical timers evolved into electronic controls, software and real-time data collection.
The tools have changed dramatically.
The need has not.
Factories still perform better when managers and operators can see the production process clearly and react based on reliable information.

Why do traditional continuous flow systems struggle in modern sewing departments?

For many years, continuous flow systems were the standard way of organizing sewing departments.
They worked well when factories produced a limited number of models in large batches.
Today, production has changed.
More collections, smaller batches and shorter lead times require a different level of flexibility.
In a traditional line, the entire production flow is constrained by its slowest operation. A single bottleneck can reduce the efficiency of every workstation that follows.
Modern production systems are increasingly designed around a different principle: allowing each workstation to operate as independently as possible while maintaining full production visibility.
Because today's challenge is no longer simply moving products.
It's keeping production flowing despite constant change.

Once the carpentry is complete, we move on to the 6th step: painting. The color can be customized, but most of our machinery is currently painted light grey. After painting and sourcing other components, we’ll be ready for the next step: mechanical assembly.

LVMH: the Arnault family is simplifying its ownership structure. 🏛️

Agache and Christian Dior will merge, creating a new Agache entity that will directly control 49.76% of LVMH’s capital and 65.55% of voting rights.

The transaction, expected in December, aims to simplify the family’s holding structure and strengthen its direct control of LVMH.

A significant move for the governance of the world’s largest luxury group.

The Arnault family ​will merge its holding company Agache with ⁠Christian Dior.

🏭FACTORY INSIGHTS Why are there so many different shoe construction methods?

When people look at a finished shoe, they usually focus on its design, materials or brand.
What often goes unnoticed is how the shoe is actually assembled.
Cemented, Strobel, Blake, Goodyear, California, Bologna, Moccasin... each construction method follows a different manufacturing process and has been developed to achieve specific characteristics.
Some prioritize flexibility, others durability, reparability, lightness or production efficiency.
There is no universally "best" construction.
The right choice depends on the intended use of the shoe, the desired comfort, the target market and the manufacturing philosophy behind the product.
Because in footwear manufacturing, the construction method is not just a production technique.

It's one of the decisions that defines the identity of the shoe itself.
