OXALIKA PRO LED Cordless: professional power, immediate operation

The new OXALIKA PRO LED Cordless is designed for those looking for a professional vaporizer that is fast and easy to use, in a compact configuration without a display.

It is equipped with the same boiler and the same 240 W power output as the PRO Cordless with display model, but with even more essential operation: the LED system allows the main working phases to be followed clearly and immediately.

The device reaches operating temperature in about 2 and a half minutes and, with a 2-gram dose, allows the sublimation cycle to be repeated every 25 seconds.

It works with 18 V lithium-ion batteries and, with a 5 Ah battery, allows around 40 treatments from cold or 45–50 treatments from hot, always with a 2-gram dose.

The PRO LED Cordless is available in two configurations:

Standard, with Sprint system and spring plunger adjustable from 1 to 4 grams
With Smart valve, to prepare the dose during sublimation, keep the plunger cooler during use, and speed up the work

A solution designed for those who want the practicality of cordless operation in the apiary, without giving up the performance of the PRO range.

A study published in the Journal of Environmental Management analyzed the effects of climatic conditions on honey bee colonies in Kenya, taking into account temperature, rainfall, and beekeeping practices. The geographical context is different from the European one, but the topic is highly relevant: understanding how heat, drought, and resource availability can influence colony stability.

According to the study, colony losses or reductions observed by beekeepers were higher during the hot and dry season than during the cooler and wetter season. The researchers also highlight that rainfall can mitigate some of the negative effects of temperature, confirming how important the relationship between climate, water, and available resources is for hive health.

The useful message for beekeepers, therefore, is to think about management in relation to the territory.

Hive placement, sun exposure, the presence of shade, water availability, continuity of blooms, and the actual condition of the colonies are all factors that can make a difference, especially during hotter or more irregular periods.

A well-managed apiary is not only a productive apiary. It is an apiary that is carefully observed, adapted to its environment, and followed closely when environmental conditions become more difficult.

In an increasingly unpredictable climate, management cannot rely only on routine, but must start from what the bees, the season, and the territory are actually showing.

The apiary calendar is no longer so predictable.

A recent report published by The Guardian points out that, in 2026, the swarming season in North America began about 17 days earlier than the previous year, following a particularly mild winter and a series of heat waves. Swarming is a natural process: when a colony grows, part of the bees leave the hive with the queen to form a new family. But when this behavior starts earlier than expected, apiary management can also become more complex.

The point is not to apply this data automatically to every area, but to observe a broader trend: unusual temperatures and less regular seasons can change colony development timing.

For beekeepers, this means increasingly having to read what is actually happening in the apiary, and not only what the calendar suggests. A colony that develops earlier than expected may require earlier inspections, more attention to available space, evaluation of food stores, and monitoring of colony strength.

Swarming remains a natural bee behavior, but in a more unstable climate it can also become a signal that deserves closer observation.

Because today, managing an apiary also means adapting to seasons that do not always follow the timing we were used to.

OXALIKA PRO CORDLESS: freedom of movement, maximum adaptability in the apiary.

The OXALIKA PRO CORDLESS model is available with different adapters compatible with the most common 18V power tool batteries, including Bosch, DeWalt, Makita, Einhell, and others.

It also comes with 3 differently shaped tubes, designed to adapt to a variety of operational needs in the apiary.

For example, by using the curved tube facing downward, it is possible to treat nuc boxes conveniently, including polystyrene ones. In this case, treatment can be carried out by making a small hole in the lid or by using the feeder hole, making sure to place a thin wooden board in between.

Standard tubes are also available, suitable for the most common treatments either through the flight entrance or from the back of the hive.

Lavender is a very interesting melliferous plant for bees, especially because of its summer flowering and the quality of its nectar.
Lavender nectar is rich in sugars and provides a useful energy source for colony activities. During the hottest periods, when some floral resources may become scarce, the presence of flowering aromatic plants can help support foraging.

The plant belongs to the Lamiaceae family and is strongly aromatic. It has an upright growth habit, narrow evergreen leaves, and spike-shaped inflorescences made up of very fragrant flowers.

Among the most widespread species are Lavandula angustifolia, native to the Mediterranean area and appreciated for its fragrant flower spikes, and Lavandula stoechas, recognizable by its compact inflorescences topped with colorful bracts. The latter may flower early, as early as April, and continue for much of the summer.

For bees, these blooms represent an important food resource; for lavender, the activity of pollinators supports reproduction and genetic variability.

Bees do not only tell us about hive health.
Thanks to their foraging activity, they can also become valuable tools for environmental monitoring.

This is the idea behind Insignia-Eu , a European project that uses honey bee colonies as biosamplers to detect pesticides, microplastics, heavy metals, and other pollutants.

One particularly interesting aspect is the direct involvement of beekeepers, who take part in the project as citizen scientists.

Today we celebrate World Bee Day.
An opportunity to remember the essential role of pollinators in biodiversity, agriculture, and the life of ecosystems.

Protecting bees also means protecting the environment that sustains them: flowering resources, habitats, water, environmental balance, and colony health.

A commitment that matters not only today, but every day.

A recent study published in Nature Communications shows that rising temperatures and reduced rainfall can decrease the diversity of pollen resources available to bees.

The risk becomes even greater when heat and drought act together, making it more difficult for the environment to compensate for the loss of some plants with other alternative resources.

This is important because a diverse pollen diet contributes to colony health.

It is therefore essential to observe what is really happening in the field: pollen availability, flowering trends, phases of lower resource availability, and the general condition of the colonies.
