𝐋𝐚!𝐃𝐎𝐌 𝐚 𝐏𝐥𝐲𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡! 🇬🇧

Dal 12 al 15 gennaio presso il Plymouth Marine Laboratory si è tenuto il primo meeting in presenza di alcuni dei partner del progetto SUPaCOOL (Sentinel User Preparation and organic Carbon from earth Observation between Ocean and Land). Questo progetto finanziato dall'ESA ha come scopo la creazione di un dataset unendo dati raccolti durante la campagna TREC (Traversing European Coastlines - https://www.embl.org/about/info/trec/) con quelli che otterremo nei prossimi mesi da campagne di campionamento nella costa occidentale della Manica e nella costa dell'Adriatico settentrionale. SUPaCOOL favorirà un cambiamento radicale nello sviluppo di nuovi algoritmi, derivanti dalla sinergia di diversi nuovi sensori per affrontare domande chiave sui flussi di carbonio nelle acque costiere. 🌊🛰️

Sono stati giorni di seminari, confronti, condivisione di idee, pianificazione dei campionamenti dei prossimi mesi; il tutto all’interno di una grande sala riunioni, sul ponte di una barca di ricerca ma anche davanti a una birra, un fish ‘n chips o uno sticky toffee pudding. 🍻



𝐋𝐚!𝐃𝐎𝐌 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐲𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡! 🇬🇧

La!DOM participated in the first meeting of the SUPaCOOL (Sentinel User Preparation and organic Carbon from earth Observation between Ocean and Land) project, that was held at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory from January 12th to 15th. This ESA-funded project aims to create a dataset by combining data collected during the TREC (Traversing European Coastlines - https://www.embl.org/about/info/trec/) expedition with those we will obtain in the coming months from sampling campaigns along the western coast of the English Channel and the northern Adriatic coast. SUPaCOOL will foster a step-change in the development of new algorithms, resulting from the synergy of several new sensors to tackle challenging scientific questions about carbon fluxes in coastal waters. 🌊🛰️

These were days of seminars, discussions, sharing ideas, and planning sampling for the coming months; all inside a large meeting room, on the deck of a research boat, but also in front of a beer, fish ‘n chips, or sticky toffee pudding. 🍻

Mai nella storia de La!DOM c’è stato un silenzio così lungo come questo. Abbiamo vissuto e stiamo ancora vivendo un periodo così ricco di progetti, riunioni, misure in campo e in laboratorio da non riuscire a raccontarvi tutte le nostre avventure. Ma il bello deve ancora ve**re e quello che ci aspetta nei prossimi mesi è così entusiasmante che non vediamo l’ora di condividerlo con voi! 🥳

In questo momento siamo sparsi nel mondo🌍

👉🏻Chiara e Nunzia sono da poco rientrate da Plymouth, nel Regno Unito 🇬🇧, per il meeting del progetto Sentinel User Preparation and organic Carbon from earth Observation between Ocean and Land (SUPaCOOL), finanziato dall’ESA (European Space Agency) 🛰️ e coordinato da Victor Martinez Vicente (Plymouth Marine Laboratory)

👉🏻Claudia, Marco e Mirco sono a bordo del METEOR, nave da ricerca tedesca, partita da Limassol il 13 Gennaio per partecipare alla campagna M216 campagna in cui saranno raccolti campioni in tutto il bacino Mar Mediterraneo. L’avventura è appena iniziata non vediamo l’ora di condividerla con voi! 🌊⛴️

👉🏻E tutti gli altri progetti? Niente paura! A Pisa ci sono Giovanni e Stefano, impegnati con il continuo controllo del sensore a fluorescenza ideato nell’ambito del progetto WICO 🚰, con i campionamenti nell’Arno e con gli esperimenti di incubazione di cui vi racconteremo presto! 🧪🦠🔬🔜

Never in the story of La!DOM there has been such a long silence as this. We have had so many projects, meetings, oceanographic cruises and lab work that were not able to share with you all our adventures.

Right now we are around the world 🌍

👉🏻 Chiara and Nunzia recently returned from Plymouth, UK 🇬🇧, for the meeting of the project Sentinel User Preparation and organic Carbon from earth Observation between Ocean and Land (SUPaCOOL), funded by ESA (European Space Agency) 🛰️ and coordinated by Victor Martinez Vicente (Plymouth Marine Laboratory).

👉🏻Claudia, Marco and Mirco are on board of the METEOR, a German research vessel, which left Limassol on January 13th to participate in the M216 cruise. They are collecting samples across the entire Mediterranean Sea basin. The adventure has just begun and we can't wait to share it with you! 🌊⛴️

👉🏻And all the other projects? Don't worry! In Pisa, Giovanni and Stefano are very busy with the ongoing measurements of the fluorescence sensor developed in the framework of the WICO project 🚰, with the sampling in the Arno River, and with the incubation experiments. 🧪🦠🔬🔜
