🔍 Continuous monitoring. Accurate data. Total process control.

In oxidation processes based on potassium permanganate (KMnO₄) or sodium permanganate (NaMnO₄), the residual oxidant concentration directly reflects treatment efficiency. Maintaining the correct residual permanganate concentration is also essential to protect treated water quality.

⚠️ Excess residual permanganate may cause pink or purple discoloration of the water, promote the formation of manganese dioxide (MnO₂) precipitates, increase particulate loading on downstream filtration systems, and lead to customer complaints in drinking water applications. Conversely, insufficient residual indicates incomplete oxidation, reducing the efficiency of iron, manganese and sulfide removal. Continuous online monitoring allows operators to maintain the optimal balance between oxidation performance and finished water quality.

PermaTest Scan has been developed to provide continuous online monitoring of residual permanganate (MnO₄⁻), allowing water treatment plants to move from estimated dosing to closed-loop process control. PermaTest uses an electrochemical measuring cell with selective electrodes and offers analog outputs and remote communication for seamless integration into control systems.

• optimize oxidant dosage in real time
• respond immediately to variations in raw water quality
• improve process stability and reproducibility
• reduce chemical consumption while maintaining treatment performance
• document oxidation efficiency through continuous process data
