How do you replace an airport runway while keeping it open?🤔
Here is the answer:
—
First a line of wheel excavators start hammering the runway. Even the CAT 390F comes in for support before leaving its hammer and grabbing its special bucket.
—
Once the first line is hammered, the 390 starts loading the dumper. And it is replaced by two other wheel excavators with a hammer. So, behind the two big excavators, four small excavators prepare the ground.

What a symphony🎶 I could listen to this melody over and over again. How about you?

A Swiss first!

Brand-new Cat 319, the first of its kind in Switzerland, spotted at yard in Langenthal and getting ready to head to its new owner!

Weighing around 20 tonnes, the compact-radius 319 combines a tight 1.75 m tail swing radius, and a ground reach of 9.2m making it a powerful package for confined jobsites.

Let’s find out!

Last year at ’s facilities in Málaga, the best operators from 20 countries across Europe and middle East competed in a series of challenges.

From pushing a pipe along a rope with a D4 dozer, to locating blind spots behind a wall using Cat’s latest technologies, or even dropping rugby balls into a basket — every test is designed to challenge even the very best.

In the end, there was only one winner — the one who masters the perfect balance between pressure and precision at their fingertips. But no mistakes were allowed… the competition was tight!

Last month I headed back to Sweden to have an exclusive look at the new products

One of the highlights was the new Volvo EC500 excavator, replacing the EC480E.
The machine belongs to the 50t class and is powered by a 400hp Volvo engine

The EC500 has a max reach of 11.5 meters and a digging depth of 7.8 meters, making it ideal for heavy excavation, demolition or quarry tasks

The heavy duty excavator can fit bucket up to 3.8m3. Making it an efficient beast for demanding projects

I was allowed to try it myself, and honestly that was pleasant! Sitting in the new cab, feeling the power of the machine and relentlessly tackling cubics meters of rock and earth

Greetings from the desert!

Last month I headed to Dubai for the first time to visit a few sites from .machinery — a major heavy machinery supplier and Kobelco dealer in the UAE.

And not only that: they also run a massive rental fleet of heavy equipment that powers some of the biggest earthmoving projects in the MENA region.

Like here, just outside Dubai, where a new golf resort is being built. But before anyone gets to enjoy the place, thousands of tons of sand need to be moved!

And I wasn’t alone… .media was there too.
Can you spot him waving in the middle of all those heavy machines? 😉

Concrete doesn’t stand a chance

Throwback to my visit at ’s facilities in Alsace 🇫🇷

The first part of the journey was on field, the opportunity to see machines in action and chat with experienced operators

The second part was a tour inside the factory, where the machines seen in the morning were designed and produced

For the field part, we went to Strasbourg, where the Credit Agricole head office is undergoing a complete overhaul.
The first part of the project, and my favorite, is the demolition of the old premises. For this, brought in heavy equipment, an almost new Liebherr R960 demolition machine and a smaller R936.

With a weight of over 95t and a maximum working height of up to 33m, the R960 didn’t give the concrete and scrap metal of the old offices a chance!

In the afternoon, I was able to see the machine’s siblings take shape at the Usines de Colmar factory, just a few kilometers away. When it comes to sustainability, you couldn’t imagine a shorter circuit ;)

Tracks removing sites are complex and extremely demanding to allow streetcars to run again a few hours later
—
Everything is planned like a Swiss watch. Nevertheless there are two radically different methods to remove the rails

1. The normal version: The rails are pre-cut with a blowtorch and pulled out with an excavator.

2. The Eberhard version: The rails are removed with an excavator and cut directly by a shear integrated in the bucket.
—
developed their own buckets for track removal, as you can see this bucket has two cylinders at the end, connected to a metal shear, which allows to directly cut the rails by pulling them out
—
Then are the cutted rails loaded into trucks, the concrete is removed and a few hours later the new tracks are put in place!

The most compact TiltRotator / Quick coupler

This prototype for small excavators is one of the highlights of the Praxis Tage 2024

Despite its size, it allows the bucket to be rotated 360 degrees, tilted and detached, making it simple and automatic to change attachments
Allowing a grapple to be coupled in just a few seconds, thanks to the integrated OQ30, a fully hydraulic quick coupler

This is one of the latest addition to P-Line range, with P standing for performance or progress!

Allowing even the smallest excavator ti be fitted with a range of attachments that can be changed in seconds, without leaving the cab, to tackle any task

The only limit to Versatility is your imagination!
