お客様からのオーダー品

初孫さんへのプレゼントです。
今後お孫さんが増えてもシリーズで飾れるものを鉄で作ってとのこと。
最初は鯉のぼり🎏を模ったスタンドの計画でした。名前を入れたいとの希望もあり武者幟風プレートにしました。強い子に育つようにと名前の右上に鯉のぼり、左下に兜のシルエットを入れました。
ギリギリですが、こどもの節句に間に合いました。👍

今回のオーダーのように、農具や刃物ではないものも作ります。お気軽に相談してください。

Custom Order from a Customer

This is a gift for their first grandchild.
The customer asked me to create a series of iron pieces that could be displayed even as their family grows.
Initially, the plan was for a stand modeled after a koi nobori (carp streamer) 🎏. However, since they also wanted to include the child’s name, I designed it as a warrior banner-style plaque. To symbolize the hope that the child will grow up to be strong, I added a koi nobori silhouette in the upper right corner and a helmet silhouette in the lower left corner.
It was a close call, but I managed to finish it in time for Children’s Day. 👍

As with this order, I also create items other than farm tools and cutlery. Please feel free to contact me with any inquiries.

5月の営業カレンダーです。

10日(日)は米子のtisclayさんのマルシェに包丁研ぎで参加します。とても柔らかい雰囲気のマルシェです。朝10時〜12時頃までです。

27日(水)から6月2日(火)までJU米子高島屋@ju_yonago_takashimaya「とっとりの手仕事展」に出展いたします。

両イベントとも素敵な出展者様が揃っております。ぜひお出かけください。

店を留守にすることが多く、ご迷惑をおかけいたしますが、ご了承ください。

Here is our May business calendar.

On Sunday, the 10th, I will be participating in a knife-sharpening session at the market hosted by tisclay in Yonago (). It’s a market with a very relaxed atmosphere. The event runs from 10:00 AM to around 12:00 PM.

From Wednesday, the 27th, through Tuesday, June 2nd, we will be exhibiting at the “Tottori Handicrafts Exhibition” at JU Yonago Takashimaya ().

Both events feature a wonderful lineup of exhibitors. We hope you’ll stop by.

We will be away from the shop frequently, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We appreciate your understanding.

3月下旬にご来店いただきました。
アメリカ🇺🇸からのお客様です。
鍛治体験と包丁研ぎでした。
お母様は倉吉出身だそうです。
海外では、包丁研ぎへの興味が強くなっているようです。
先日のメキシコ🇲🇽のバイヤーもシェフを集めてワークショップを開催されてました。
英語は話せないですが、外国のお客様も大歓迎です。

They visited us in late March.
They were guests from the United States 🇺🇸.
They participated in a blacksmithing workshop and had their knives sharpened.
Apparently, their mother is from Kurayoshi.
Interest in knife sharpening seems to be growing overseas.
Just the other day, a buyer from Mexico 🇲🇽 organized a workshop for chefs.
Although we don’t speak English, we warmly welcome international guests.

これ、な〜んだ？
居酒屋さんからご注文いただいた牡蠣🦪の殻剥きです。
オイスターナイフってやつです。
鳥取県の岩牡蠣は夏が旬で「夏輝」というブランドもあり、かなり大ぶりです。
その分ゴツゴツして手を切りやすいです。
牡蠣の口に入りやすく、こじ開ける時に捻っても大丈夫なナイフが欲しいとのことで、去年作らせていただいたリピート注文です。

使い方をお聞きして、かたちにしていくオーダーもしています。
出来るもの、出来ないものありますが気軽に相談してくださ〜い🤗

Guess what this is?
It’s an oyster shucking knife we made for an izakaya.
It’s what you’d call an oyster knife.
Rock oysters from Tottori Prefecture are in season during the summer—there’s even a brand called “Natsuki”—and they’re quite large.
Because of that, they’re rough and sharp, making it easy to cut yourself.
They wanted a knife that would easily reach the oyster’s mouth and could be twisted without breaking when prying it open, so this is a repeat order from last year.

We also take custom orders where we design the knife based on how you plan to use it.
There are things we can and can’t do, but please feel free to ask us! 😊

ご無沙汰してます。
ちょっと指を怪我をしまして、Instagramをお休みしていました😅
修理物も溜まってま〜す。
お待たせしているお客様申し訳ございません🙇

先日、中国🇨🇳からの留学生が鍛治体験に来てくれました。大阪大学で天文物理を学んでいるそうです。小さい頃から「名探偵コナン」が大好きで北栄町のコナン館を楽しみに鳥取観光にいらっしゃいました。
日本語もまったく問題なく、おもいっきりが良いのでとてもスムーズに進みました。お昼ごはんは牛骨ラーメン🍜が楽しみって言ってましたね〜

今週末はアメリカ🇺🇸からのお客様の予定が入っています。
気づけばワールドワイドになってました🤭

It’s been a while.
I hurt my finger a bit, so I’ve been taking a break from Instagram 😅

The other day, an international student from China 🇨🇳 came by for a blacksmithing workshop. Apparently, they’re studying astrophysics at Osaka University. They’ve loved “Detective Conan” since they were little and came to Tottori specifically to visit the Conan Museum in Hokuei Town.
Their Japanese was flawless, and they were so enthusiastic that everything went very smoothly. They mentioned they were looking forward to having beef bone ramen 🍜 for lunch~

This weekend, I have a customer coming from the U.S. 🇺🇸 scheduled to visit.
Before I knew it, my business had gone global 🤭

こんばんは
今日は倉吉観光MICE協会主催「刀剣鑑賞講座」ツアーでした。
鳥取市在住の大橋刀匠を招いて日本刀の説明と鑑賞の作法、見方を説いていただきました。
お客様も地元はもちろん、広島、大阪からもお越しいただきました。
ずらっと並んだ真剣は美しさとともにギラギラとした迫力を感じさせます。
良いものを見させていただきました。
私はいつも通り鍛治体験の担当でした。
刀剣鑑賞の引き締まった講座に対してゆる〜く体を動かしてもらいました。

Good evening.
Today we held a "Sword Appreciation Seminar" tour organized by the Kurayoshi Tourism and MICE Association.
We invited Master Blacksmith Ohashi, who lives in Tottori City, to explain Japanese swords and teach us the proper etiquette and methods for appreciating them.
Our guests included not only locals but also visitors from Hiroshima and Osaka.
The row of genuine swords on display exuded a sense of beauty as well as a dazzling, commanding presence.
It was a real treat to see such fine pieces.
As usual, I was in charge of the sword forging experience.
In contrast to the serious and focused sword appreciation lecture, I had everyone move their bodies in a relaxed and laid-back way.

今日の修理
たけのこ鍬の刃研ぎです。
大山町から常連のお客様です。
去年作らせていただいた長いのと永く使われて短くなったのと2本お持ちいただきました。
研いで角を作ってグラグラしていた柄を少しカットしてクサビで締め直しです。
筍は大きくなると売り物にならないそうで、筍の大きさに見合った鍬が必要みたいです。
「幅が昨年作った鍬より+1cm、長さは30cmくらいの鍬が欲しいなぁ。」「新しい鍬買うと前のが使えるのにしまいっぱなしになるんだが。」
それなら今年は修理した鍬を使って、シーズン後に短くなった鍬を継いで作り直しましょう。

Today's Repair
Sharpening the blade of a bamboo shoot hoe.
A regular customer from Oyama Town.
They brought two hoes: a long one I made last year and a shorter one worn down from long use.
I sharpened the blade, re-edged it, trimmed the loose handle a bit, and tightened it with a wedge.
Apparently, bamboo shoots that grow too large aren't marketable, so you need a hoe sized for the shoot's size.
"I'd like a hoe about 1cm wider than last year's and about 30cm longer."
"But if I buy a new hoe, the old one just gets stored away unused."
Then this year, use the repaired hoe, and after the season, let's extend and rebuild the shortened one.

関東地方からのお客様です。
初山陰が倉吉とは、かなりレアです。
ものづくりがしたかったみたいで、午後からは陶芸に行くと言っていました。
3月にしては冷えこんだ日(東京との温度差は10℃くらいありました)カイロを貼って鍛治体験開始です。
叩いて形つくる、捻じって縞を出す、サンダーで刃を整える、3人いれば、はまるポイントもそれぞれ。
自分だけの1本が出来上がりです。
試し切りは大盛り上がりでした。
お昼は清水庵の餅しゃぶをお勧めしました。
いい思い出になりますように。

鍛治体験は小さなお子様からご年配の方まで年齢を問わず楽しめます。

Visitors from the Kanto region.
Their first trip to San'in being to Kurayoshi is quite rare.
They seemed eager to try making things, mentioning plans to do pottery in the afternoon.
It was a chilly day for March (about 10°C colder than Tokyo), so we started the blacksmithing experience with heating pads on.
Hammering to shape, twisting to create stripes, sanding the blade smooth—with three people, each found their own point of fascination.
Each created their very own knife.
The test-cutting session was a huge hit.
For lunch, I recommended Shimizuan's mochi shabu-shabu.
May it become a cherished memory.

Our blacksmithing experience is enjoyable for all ages, from young children to seniors.
Bookings are available for individuals.
