皐月 重ね色目『卯の花』
"Utsugi" (deutzia) : Ancient color combinations for layering kimonos in May
卯の花（うのはな）の重ね色目は、表が「白」、裏が「青（萌葱色・緑）」の組み合わせです。
The layered color combination for "Utsugi" (deutzia) is a combination of "white" on the outside and "blue (light green/green)" on the inside.
白い薄衣から緑の裏地が透けて見える様子は、新緑に映える白い卯の花（ウツギ）を表しています。The way the green lining shows through the thin white garment represents the white deutzia flowers that stand out against the fresh green leaves.
初夏、視覚的に清涼感を生み出し、暑い夏を快適に過ごすための美意識が込められていました。
In early summer, it created a visually refreshing feeling, embodying an aesthetic sense for comfortably enduring the hot summer.
◼︎重ね色目(襲の色目)とは
平安時代、貴族が着物を重ねて着た際に、表地と裏地、あるいは各層の色の組み合わせで季節や情景を表現した、日本の伝統的な配色のことです。世界最古の配色便覧とも称されます。
Kasane irome (layered kimono) is a traditional Japanese color scheme used by aristocrats in the Heian period when they layered kimonos, expressing seasons and scenes through the combination of colors of the outer and inner linings, or of each layer. It is also known as the world's oldest color scheme.
