NEC participated in Locked Shields 2025, an international cyber defence exercise organised by the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE).
NEC also supported design and construction of the exercise environment for the team from Japan, including its network and analysis infrastructure. 🔐

The exercise aims to improve the ability to deal with cyber-attacks in real-time. It provides training in practical cyber defence and strategic decision-making, including technical, and legal responses to complex and simultaneous cyber incidents under realistic scenarios.

Connecting the dots that led NEC to where it is today: The joy of building a business while contributing to Africa’s development 🌿

The Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), co-hosted by the Japanese government, the United Nations (UN), and others, will be held in Yokohama, Japan, from August 20 to 22, 2025.

The latest edition of NEC Stories, the NEC Group’s corporate blog that shares the latest news about NEC, introduces NEC’s initiatives leading up to TICAD 9.

Forecasts predict that Africa’s population will account for one-quarter of the world’s population in 2050. Meanwhile, it is experiencing rapid growth and appears poised to be the greatest frontier in the 21st century.

NEC is currently promoting its agricultural ICT platform CropScope and other initiatives, positioning its support for Africa as a sustainable business.

Through the activities of two employees responsible for Africa, this article takes a closer look at NEC’s presence and cutting-edge initiatives in Africa.

This July marks a year and a half since the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake of January 1, 2024.

The NEC Noto Gappa Support Team, an NEC Noto support team established as part of the NEC Pro Bono Club by NEC Group members in and from Ishikawa Prefecture, the Tokyo metropolitan area, and elsewhere, undertook the Noto Products Online Support Campaign as its inaugural project.

More than 100 NEC Group employees from across Japan participated in this campaign, delivering not only countless heartfelt messages of encouragement but also the flavors and aromatic delights of Noto’s natural bounty.

NEC's AI avatar system provides emergency information in multiple languages. 🗣

The number of overseas visitors to Japan in 2024 exceeded 36 million, and this figure is projected to reach 40 million in 2025. While this surge in inbound tourism is boosting Japan’s economy, the provision of emergency information to overseas tourists in times of disaster is a real issue that must be addressed in a region prone to earthquakes, typhoons, and other natural disasters. That’s why efforts are now underway in TV broadcasting to create a system for providing multilingual emergency information.

NEC will utilize Agentic AI in creating its Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) report, which is scheduled for disclosure later this year. 🧠

As part of its "Client Zero" initiative—where NEC implements advanced technologies internally before offering them to clients—the company is applying Agentic AI to the TNFD report preparation process.This includes developing functionalities to handle five key tasks: research, risk and opportunity identification, risk assessment, writing and review, and external communications.

By leveraging Agentic AI, NEC aims to improve the efficiency and sophistication of TNFD reporting operations.
The technology has already proven effective in research and external communications, and NEC plans to extend its application to other sustainability disclosure areas, such as compliance with the Sustainability Standards Board of Japan (SSBJ) and responses to rating agency surveys.
