Red Bull 3Style World Champion DJ Puffy reconnects with the Roots of Turntablism using the new JICO x GENRE BNDR OMNIA cartridges featuring JICO’s latest DVS Ruby stylus tips.
Known worldwide for his technical scratching, open-format versatility, and Caribbean influence on global DJ culture, the Barbados-born DJ is seen bringing real needles back into his setup after spending more time practicing and rediscovering the feel and control that only vinyl can provide. After spending more time practicing, Puffy returns to real needles — reconnecting with the touch, resistance, and control that shaped turntablism from the beginning.
The GENRE BNDR OMNIA “Smiley” design blends classic turntable response with modern DVS-focused performance through a collaboration between Japanese stylus manufacturer JICO and GENRE BNDR — a Japan-based DJ culture brand built around connecting music beyond genre boundaries. Influenced by dancefloor culture spanning HIP-HOP, R&B, SOUL, JAZZ, LATIN, and HOUSE, the collaboration merges Japanese cartridge craftsmanship with the feel and philosophy of real turntable culture.
Designed for mixing, scratching, beat juggling, and digital vinyl control, the cartridges feature JICO’s natural solid DVS Ruby conical stylus tip for strong tracking, smooth response, and tactile feedback.
The GENRE BNDR OMNIA series is available in four designs —
“Good,” “Great,” “Better,” and “Smiley”
each representing different expressions of music, creativity, and DJ culture.
For many modern DVS DJs, returning to needles is not about nostalgia — it is about reconnecting with the physical feel, precision, and practice culture that shaped the foundations of DJing. For DJs raised on battle records, turntables, and real hands-on control, the GENRE BNDR OMNIA series brings classic needle culture into the modern DVS era, combining Japanese craftsmanship, strong tracking performance, and tactile response that keeps turntablism connected to its Roots.
