Hosted the annual Eastern African Packaging Summit with ProPak EA.
Conducted our first in-person "Overview of Packaging Technology" training since COVID, in collaboration with the World Packaging Organization.
Strengthened partnerships with academia and circular economy stakeholders to champion packaging's essential role in protection, containment, and preservation.
Participated in judging WorldStar, AfriStar, and Sustainable Packaging and Circular Economy Awards.
Celebrated the launch of World Packaging Organization’s first online courses.
With our growing membership, we look forward to an impactful 2025.

Packaging Technical Training Wrap-Up!

Just recovering from an intense 3-day roller coaster of packaging technical training. Here's a quick summary:

Quote "New insights are rare for me, but this packaging technical training provided so much to learn." – Teaching Assistant & PhD Student (paraphrased)

So, Day 2 highlights were packed with deep dives into Packaging Materials. Dr. Kishan Shah took learners through Paper and Board, while Ms. Shira Rosen brilliantly covered Polymers and Additives in Flexible and Rigid Plastic Packaging, exploring how specific polymers and additives create packaging for diverse applications. This is truly packaging science—not for the faint-hearted!

Ms. Rosen, with her extensive knowledge, gently guided leaners through the topic, addressing a mixed audience’s concerns and questions with ease.

Day 3 spotlighted Kenya Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), a revolutionary step toward waste management in Kenya. EPR promotes circular economy principles, product stewardship, and resource efficiency. As sustainability concerns grow globally, Kenya is leading the charge.
The program offered immense learning for both academia and industry! A niche program for Packaging Professionals.

A huge thank you to our CEO, Joseph Nyongesa, for his visionary leadership and passion for packaging! WPO resources, Dr. Kishan Singh and Ms. Shira Rosen, for their valuable contributions. Special thanks to Kofi Essuman – WPO Vice President, Education, and WPO President Mrs Luciana Pellegrino for making it possible to bring this program to Kenya!

Final but not least, acknowledging the unwavering support from Zippy Shiyoya and Brian Sirengo - Thank you both for always being there! A special mention to our partners, Mitsui Chemicals Inc. Propak East Africa, KEPRO and Kenya Institute of Business training (KIBT) for their support in making this training possible!
