China has recently deployed one of the world’s largest hybrid energy storage stations, located in Dali, Yunnan Province.
Officially launched in 2023, this station combines lithium-ion batteries and flow batteries to balance energy storage and distribution.
It is part of China's push toward renewable energy reliability, especially under volatile climate conditions.
Capacity: 100 MW power output, 400 MWh storage.
Purpose: Stabilizes the grid amid fluctuating solar/wind supply.
Performance: Designed to operate in extreme heat or cold, ensuring consistent electricity for up to 270,000 households.
Significance: Helps China reduce dependency on coal, integrate renewables, and buffer the grid during demand spikes or generation drops.
