About two weeks after sowing, (14th April) we shifted the focus to below the surface again. We introduced Koppert solutions 𝙏𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙪𝙢 and 𝙑𝙞𝙙𝙞 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙫𝙖. These two solutions focus on the root zone of the crop and have key benefits as follows:

Trianum is a bio fungicide for the control of soil-borne diseases such as Fusarium spp. Trianum establishes itself around the roots and protects them against diverse pathogens. It also improves the root system through the formation of more root hairs so that water and nutrients can be taken up better.

Vidi Parva is a natural, plant-based bio stimulant designed to enhance root development, allowing plants to absorb nutrients more efficiently. It also increases soil microbial activity, promoting a healthy rhizosphere that supports disease resistance.

When roots are strong, everything above the surface has the power to thrive.
This is where resilience truly begins.

𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩 3 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙎𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨:

Progress update: On 7th April, just a few days after, the seedlings emerged, and they looked healthy! What we saw was:
• Even germination across trays
• Vigorous early growth
• Healthy coloration and vigor

The nursery showed strong, uniform seedling emergence, which was a direct result of good agronomic practices, including proper hygiene, using quality growing media and early microbial support with 𝙋𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙭-𝙂𝙍

With our foundation in place, it was time to sow!
𝙊𝙣 31𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝, a diverse selection of crops was introduced including tomatoes🍅, capsicum🫑, and leafy vegetables🥬, each with its own growth needs, but all requiring one thing in common: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩.

Sowing was done with precision in sowing trays, creating the right conditions for uniform germination.
We focused on:
✅️Proper seed placement
✅️Moisture consistency
✅️Clean & nutrient-packed growing media
because getting it right at sowing can make all the difference in what farmers harvest later.🌱

Sustainable farming starts with empowering farmers to do things differently.👨🏾‍🌾

With the support of Koppert Foundation, Koppert Kenya in partnership with Latia Agribusiness Solutions Limited is implementing a hands-on farming experience to demonstrate how farmers can grow healthier, more resilient and productive crops using biological solutions.💪🏾

On this journey, we will be tackling various crops including tomatoes, Capsicum and leafy vegetables (spinach and kale), with the aim of showing farmers how to grow sustainably as well as the biological solutions available across these various value chains.🌱

𝙊𝙣 26𝙩𝙝 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧, we prepared our foundation. We used 𝙘𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙩 as our growing media, then enriched it with our biofertilizer, 𝙋𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙭-𝙂𝙍 , to introduce beneficial microorganisms from day one!

Spidermites can create pressure rapidly with their quick reproduction and short life cycles.🕸
A small infestation can escalate into severe crop damage in a matter of days - especilly during the hot and dry weather.

Often found on the underside of leaves, spider mites feed by piercing plant cells and extracting sap, leaving behind yellowing tissue, reduced photosynthesis, and, eventually, plants collapse.

As pressure builds:
❌️Leaves turn yellow and weaken
❌️Webbing forms, covering entire plants
❌️Populations multiply rapidly across all life stages

Both the nymph and adult stages contributes to the pressure you see in your crop.
With increasing resistance to chemical control, reactive approaches are no longer enough.
