Hello, I am Hasan Zahid and I joined CCECC Kenya Ltd. as an intern in January this year. At that time, I was studying my last semester at university. It was a great opportunity for me to write my thesis by using the practical working experience at CCECC Kenya Ltd. At last, it turned out to be one of the best written theses in my class.
My internship goal was to learn more about construction work and understand construction management on site. Now as my internship period is almost over, thanks to the Mentorship Activity and my tutor Mr. Wang Guoyong, I have made lots of progress.
People say 70 percent of learning comes from working experience on site, I find that is true for learning construction work. I developed my mathematical and technical skills, and I have gained a better understanding of leadership. I have learned how a construction project manager is able to plan and prioritize construction works, manage time effectively, delegate duties when necessary, make decisions with confidence and authority, and motivate members of his/her team. Now I can monitor and evaluate the progress of work completed at a jobsite on my own, and make sure staff are doing their work in compliance with design documents, project plans, and other rules and regulations. I now understand how to apply technical knowledge to construction work and how a construction project management works. At CCECC Kenya Ltd., I am gaining a lot of experience everyday.
