The most expensive part of a building isn't always the one you can see.

Behind every commercial kitchen is a grease trap working quietly to intercept fats, oils, and grease (FOG) before they enter the wastewater system.

Without one — or without regular maintenance — these materials can lead to blocked drains, flooding, unpleasant odours, costly repairs, municipal fines, and even operational shutdowns.
A grease trap isn't just another plumbing fixture. It's a critical part of your building's infrastructure, protecting your operations, your plumbing, and the environment.

At Muenzer Kenya, we provide professional grease trap servicing that removes accumulated FOG safely and responsibly. The brown grease we collect is recovered for biodiesel production, supporting a more circular economy, while organic sludge is directed to biogas production.

Maintain it regularly. Avoid the hidden costs.

Used Cooking Oil is often seen as waste, but when handled improperly, its impact reaches far beyond the kitchen.

Reused cooking oil has been linked to serious public health risks, including cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal illness, and other long-term health concerns.

Just 1 litre of improperly disposed oil can pollute up to 1 million litres of water, placing additional strain on our environment and communities.

At the same time, used cooking oil is a valuable resource. When responsibly collected and recycled into biodiesel, it can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90% compared to traditional fossil fuels, helping drive the transition to a more sustainable future.

At Muenzer Kenya, we work with businesses across the country to ensure used cooking oil is collected safely, managed responsibly, and transformed into sustainable solutions.

Bioenzymes in your grease trap? Here’s what they’re actually doing (and not doing).

Bioenzymes break down fats, oils, and food waste into smaller particles and disperse them into wastewater. While this may seem effective, the grease doesn’t disappear. It moves further down the drain, where it builds up over time and causes hidden blockages.

This can also create bigger maintenance issues downstream. The only effective solution is proper grease trap servicing — and that’s exactly what Muenzer Kenya provides.

What ends up in your grease trap starts with what happens at the sink.

Our training session at Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport Hotel focused on empowering kitchen teams with the knowledge to prevent plastics, gloves, and improper waste found in grease traps.

Because better practices in the kitchen mean better performance, compliance, and sustainability.
