Water Hyacinth is a blessing in disguise. It should be managed as a cash crop, and not eradicated.
Hyacinth should be view as a natural nutrient recycling plant, and a continuous source of renewable energy.
Firstly, hyacinth feeds on and converts sewage and other organic wastes that flow into fresh water basins into plant matter. So hyacinth is actually a filter or water purifier constantly improving the quality of water in fresh-water rivers and the lakes.
Secondly, managed well and harvested sustainably, biogas digesters would then converts the plant matter into valuable organic fertilizer whilst producing continuous large volumes of biogas, which in turn can be converted into any form of energy.
.. and mother nature figured this out millions of years ago :-)
