Our leadership team, led by our CEO, Geoffrey Ndugwa, recently visited the proposed Matuga Greenfield Clinker Plant site at Diani Estate to review project progress and engage with key stakeholders.

The visit featured constructive discussions with representatives from the National Administration and the Kwale County Government, who reaffirmed their support for the project. The team also held meaningful engagements with the Mwachome Project Affected Persons (PAPs) Committee and visited the resettlement and livelihood restoration areas to assess ongoing progress.

These engagements underscored Bamburi's commitment to delivering responsible resettlement aligned with World Bank best practices while fostering transparent collaboration with host communities and government partners.

The visit concluded with a commemorative tree planting at the proposed clinker plant site a lasting symbol of our commitment to environmental stewardship, responsible development, and creating shared value for the communities we serve.

Bamburi Cement has marked the groundbreaking for the construction of two new classrooms at Bureni Primary School in Vipingo, reinforcing our commitment to expanding access to quality education within our host communities.

The new classrooms will provide much-needed learning space for Grade 7 and 8 learners, supporting the successful implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) while creating a better learning environment for future generations.

The Mombasa team led by the Stakeholder Coordinator, Halima Bakari and Senior Biodiversity & GIS Officer Linda Sogot recently engaged with a team from A Rocha Kenya to learn more about the ongoing regional efforts to address the growing population of invasive Indian House Crows in Mombasa and Kilifi counties.

The engagement focused on understanding efforts to curb the spread of the invasive Indian House Crow, which threatens native bird species by preying on eggs and chicks and competing for habitats. All this is towards helping create space for native species to thrive and support the restoration of coastal ecosystems.

With boda bodas playing a vital role in Kenya’s transport system and accounting for a significant share of road accidents, we took action.

Through the Bodaboda Safe Riding Awareness Campaign, Bamburi Cement partnered with authorities to train 700 riders in defensive driving and first aid, while also providing helmets and reflective gear to improve visibility and safety.

The result: improved road safety awareness, better riding habits, and a step towards reducing preventable road fatalities.
