Today I came across an audio woofer display board with a burnt 5V regulator (IC 7805). At first, I thought it was completely dead — but I noticed there was another IC at the back controlling the display.

I decided to dig deeper, searched for the datasheet of that IC, studied its pin configuration, and found a way to salvage the board to work according to my own setup. After a few tests and adjustments, it powered up perfectly — display back to life and responding just as I wanted.

Sometimes it’s not about replacing everything — it’s about understanding how it works. 🔧⚡

Small victory in the lab today! After some troubleshooting, I finally managed to get a solid connection to the salvaged PIC chip PIC16F886 and read some of the data!.. I wanted to test the famous Arduino based solution for programming pic
It's just a small piece of the puzzle, but it feels great to have a working communication channel. Now that I know the basic setup is functional, the real reverse-engineering work can begin.
What's the next logical step from here Is how to compile Hex file and upload it to PIC chip.. to read DS3234 RTC on the salvage board... And to display the readings on command prompt using Putty....💪
