1. Drop Beam
Position: Below the slab
Description: A beam that projects below the slab level.
Purpose:
Provides high structural strength.
Common in buildings where beam depth is not restricted.
Application: Suitable for heavy load areas (e.g., industrial buildings, parking decks).
2. Inverted Beam
Position: Above the slab
Description: A beam that protrudes above the slab level.
Purpose:
Used when there are space or headroom constraints below.
Often found in roof slabs to channel water or for architectural reasons.
Application: Common in flat roofs and certain architectural designs.
3. Hidden Beam (Concealed Beam)
Position: Within the slab thickness
Description: A beam that is completely embedded within the slab.
Purpose:
Provides uniform ceiling levels (aesthetically clean).
Helps control slab deflection and distributes loads.
Application: Used in residential buildings where a flat ceiling is desired.
