Stumble bloc Wall Thursday.

Day 3.

On the 3rd and final day, the laying of the last 4 courses went ahead with the motarizing filling the cavities. The wall had already gained it formidable strength and with each intelock of the blocs, target was still set to finish on time. Once all the nine courses had been lay, the final process of touch up known as grouting began. This was to fill the small cavities and stack up the block to the final bond. Already aesthetically, the wall brought out its pop as the smooth finish gives it the authentic appeal. With minimum or no wastage and with less manpower, cost saving and a job on time, a nine course wall was finished.

Stumble Bloc Wall Thursday

Day 2.

For the second day, after the settling of the mortar, the first course of the Stumble blocs were laid, with proper precision, block by block the foundation was set with mortarizing following to fill the hollow cavities and eventually a 3 course lay work was established, eventually where grooving for the D10 bars was set. Quality is key as the grinder ensured a steady consistent groove. After D10 bars laying, bloc laying proceeded as per the second day the wall was up by 5 courses on both ends setting course for for the 3rd and final day works.

Stumble bloc Wall Thursday.

For long we have had walls with a purpose of protection of a piece of property , land and inclusive of privacy. In such times wall building hasn't changed much as its generally the use of machine cut stones, bars motar, plastering and use of razor wire or glass to give it that extra sense of security. In terms of cost, still its relatively high especially in terms of acreage of the land. For example a quater acre a 100×100 wall cost spent would be around Sh600,000 to fence.a nine-course concrete perimeter wall where materials used would be machine cut blocks, sand, quarry dust (which is used to complement sand) and cement for the exercise which would take a week to be completed.A simple breakdown would be five lorries of red or original sand that is at Sh30,000 per lorry, over 20 bags of cement, two lorries of quarry dust which is at Sh6,000 a lorry and several Y10 and Y12 steel bars, in addition to amount spent on labour.Sh2,400 a day on labour where the contractor is paid Sh1, 200 and his two ‘watu wa mkono’ (casual labourers) Sh600 each for the one week to put up the perimeter wall. leased wood which is used in the coursing of the wall. It would cost even more if one were to buy the wood,

Yetu construction takes wall building to a new perspective. Wall building takes just 2 to 3 days with our premier Stumble bloc interlocking blocs. Not only do they make it more cost effective and more environmental friendly, less labour intensive plus it gives a more aesthetic appeal and beauty as it can be done with different colur blocs. Just as here at we do put into practice our slogan just as shown below in our recent project where we did a 64ft by 28ft wall with a man power of just 4 people. A step by step guide on how the project was done in 3 days.

Day 1

Trenches were dug for the foundations, with a manpower of 3 people which took about 3 to 4 hours, deepest we dug was around 3 feet, the place being suitable as the bedrock was just near the surface. A motar mixture was prepared and eventually we poured and left to settle to allow for preparation of laying of the first course.

Block building Thursday.

Stumble bloc Technology.

Stumbelbloc is a revolutionary new building product (global patent pending) which takes building to a new dimension
Stumbelbloc – Yetu Concrete, is based in Thika, but offers delivery across the region
Using this design, building is as simple as stacking blocks on top of each other all the while retaining high precision margins
This method of building is cost effective, environmentally friendly, energy efficient and convenient
Stumbelbloc is significantly more environmentally friendly than most other forms of traditional building materials
Stumbelbloc modular concrete block system provides a cheaper alternative to conventional brickwork with the added benefits of increased R value with faster construction time
There are many advantages in using Stumbelbloc when building:

Construction can be achieved with unskilled labour (from a solid and level foundation). The only tools required for making a brick is a shovel (for mixing) and a builder's trowel (for finishing)

No separate energy source such as electricity/petrol/diesel is necessary to build bricks. This, together with their longevity and insulation properties, make them environmentally friendly with a low carbon footprint.

Construction can be achieved in record time, eg. 3 x 4m house to roof line in 1 day (with 4 men). Construction method saves 50% of similar construction costs.

No lintels are required for standard door and

window openings. An equivalent lintel can be

achieved by steel rad and concrete additions

to the Stumbelbloc cavities above the opening.

saving both time and money.

Stumbelbloc cavities can be used for pipework/electrics and can also be filled with polystyrene chips (regrind) for insulation purposes.

Stumbelbloc can handle load bearing and can be built in excess of 3m high in one day with immediate load bearing Le. used for shuttering of concrete columns.

Stumbelbloc's are joined together with thin bed mortor instead of conventional mortar. The Blockgrip is applied only to the bottom of each block by simply dipping the base of the block into the mix. This makes building more than 10 x faster and significantly cheaper.

The most attractive and cost effective method of finishing is to plaster with our approved skim plaster (SABS & NHBRC)-o 3mm skim not only provides a waterproof layer but also requires minimal skill versus standard finish.

The same process may be used internally but if a cheaper process is required rog rolling with simple mortar will suffice Stumbelbloc construction creates virtually no site waste from rubble. A typical days construction using Stumbelbloc will result in less than a barrow load of waste, further cutting costs. It is ideal for areas for in which o clean construction is required.

What is further notable about these blocks is the speed at which they can be manufactured. Average labour without any skills can manufacture about 64 blocks daily, using only traditional methods. With some basic tools, four labourers can create up to 250 blocks in a day. It only takes 48 hrs for the blocs to cure, yet even as time goes on the more water they receive the more they cure.

In regards to strength, the blocs can withstand a pressure force of 5.2 MPa which is very versatile, which makes them earthquake proof and also sound proof. In regards to the foundation, the use of two D10 bars on the cavities is all that is required to be laid .

A basic two bedroom house with a cost of 1 million Kenya shillings just requires 2500 blocks which we can mould on site.

Ask us on how we can help you out bring down the building cost of your dream house or commercial building.

Construction and Interior design Monday's

Stamping in comparison to wallpapers.

As we advance in construction and interior design techniques, different ways to finish interior and exterior of a house come into play. Relatively stamping is a concept coming into play.

decorative stamping can add beauty and drama to concrete floors, sidewalks, driveways and other horizontal surfaces. But did you know you can use similar stamping and texturing techniques to enhance vertical surfaces, such as the walls inside your home or business, a fireplace front or an exterior privacy wall?

More decorative concrete contractors are literally climbing the walls to demonstrate new vertical applications for their artistry. They are defying gravity with the use of new lightweight cement-based wall overlay materials that can be applied directly over virtually any properly prepared wall surface, including concrete and masonry, wood, cement board, plaster, drywall and even insulating concrete forms (ICFS).

These tenacious mixes are formulated to go on thickly without sagging, allowing them to be embellished with deep rock textures, wood-grain patterns, grout joints and many other carved or imprinted designs created with special stamps, texturing skins and sculpting tools. What's more, vertical overlays can be colored and stained to simulate the appearance of natural stone, brick or other wall materials.

They do bring in the advantage of versatility. In addition to their ability to be stamped or carved to look like real stone, brick or slate, companies who supply vertical mixes have developed special stamping and carving tools that allow installers to mimic many other materials such as weathered wood, fossilized rock, botanical imprints, cut coral, lava rock and even bamboo. These overlays also can be pigmented, stained or faux finished in just about any color imaginable, whether you want to match the surrounding décor or replicate the natural colors of the materials they simulate. The overlay depth can be varied, too, depending on the pattern or look desired.

Vertical overlays also permit total flexibility in the size of individual units in the pattern, which can easily be customized to suit the dimensions of the wall. "You can do more with vertical overlays than manufactured stone because you can make the stone patterns any size and shape.

Wallpapers may be relatively popular but in comparison to stamping the do bring in disadvantages such as • The process of applying wallpaper to walls is more time-consuming than painting.

• One can't simply paint over it or apply

different wallpaper if you get bored with the

wallpaper without some prep work.

• Removing it can be a hustle- Many of today's wallpapers (non-woven technology) strip off in large sheets, but some older wallpaper can be more tedious to remove.
•Humidity can cause it to become unglued.

•Its easily soiled and damaged.

• Older paper nearly impossible to match color or pattern if damaged.

• Costly to replace.

In terms of cost stamping goes around for 3000-4000 per sq meter at Yetu construction in comparison to wallpapers which cost in upwards of 1500 kshs per 10m by 1 m which will require maintainace and not yet factoring labour costs and other materials such as glues and also factoring in time yet stamping requires little or no maintenance and has an array of styling.
