On 19 August 2025, the Hoang Gia Bridge, also known as May Chai Bridge, along with its approach roads invested by Vingroup, was officially inaugurated as part of the celebrations for the 80th Anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day. This new landmark now connects Vu Yen Island with Hai Phong City, creating an important link for the region.
With a total length of nearly 2.2 km, the bridge features a 21-metre-wide main deck carrying four lanes of traffic. Its defining elements are the two A-shaped pylons, each standing 89 metres high and supporting 24 stay-cable bundles arranged in two planes. The central span consists of a 200-metre-long steel girder structure, giving the bridge both strength and elegance.
Utracon Vietnam played a key role in this project, undertaking the design and fabrication of the climbing formwork system for the pylons, and providing installation supervision and operational support throughout the works.
With its distinctive A-shaped, inclined pylon design, the project demanded precision ex*****on, strict adherence to schedule, and robust safety measures, particularly during the storm season in Northern Vietnam. Despite the impact of Typhoon Yagi, the works continued without incident — a strong testament to the reliability and quality delivered on site.
