Triple-Parameter Model:
The Triple-Parameter Model is used to represent medium-length transmission lines in power systems. Instead of analyzing a real transmission line with all its physical properties, engineers use an equivalent circuit that includes three important parameters: Resistance (R), Inductance (L), and Capacitance (C).
Resistance (R) represents the opposition to current flow in the conductor. It causes power loss in the form of heat and reduces the overall efficiency of power transmission.
Inductance (L) is created by the magnetic field around the transmission line when current flows. It contributes to the line's reactance and affects voltage regulation and power transfer.
Capacitance (C) exists between the conductors and between the conductors and ground. It stores electrical energy in the electric field and causes charging current to flow even when the line is lightly loaded.
By combining R, L, and C into a simplified model, engineers can accurately analyze transmission line performance, voltage drop, power losses, and system stability. The Triple-Parameter Model provides a practical balance between simplicity and accuracy, making it an important tool in power system design and analysis.
