Water for All: Strategic Governance and Innovative Solutions for Cambodia’s Water Future 💧🌍
On 24/04/2026, the Faculty of Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering of the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) successfully organized an impactful executive workshop: "Water for All: Strategic Governance and Innovative Solutions for Cambodia’s Water Future." We were thrilled to host an incredible turnout of over 150 participants! This diverse gathering united key representatives from government ministries, Development Partners (DPs), NGOs, and the private sector. It was especially inspiring to see our bright water engineering students learning and networking alongside the MS OpT cohort of executive managers from 23 different countries. Together, we united to share and discuss critical strategies for SDG 6, innovative governance, and sustainable water management for a resilient future. 🤝
The event officially commenced with warm welcome remarks by Mr. SOY Ty, Deputy Director of ITC, and joined opening by Mr. Jean-Antoine FABY, Chair of AgroParisTech.
A core highlight of the workshop was the deep dive into water governance and technical solutions. We extend our gratitude to the organizations that presented their vital work: Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority: The Phnom Penh Miracle: Scaling Urban Water Supply Success and Future Horizon. X-WATER Technology, Safege/Suez Consulting: Showcased technological innovations and new regional approaches to wastewater management. CAPRED highlighted financial innovations and blended utility models for rural water supply. Cambodian Water Supply Association (CWA): Explored the ongoing challenges and opportunities for private water operators in Cambodia.
We also want to specifically thank the key line ministries whose active participation and shared expertise and responsibilities are crucial to advancing Cambodia's water security: MISTI, MPWT, MOWRAM, MRD, and MoE.
The afternoon featured a highly engaging roundtable panel discussion focused on synergizing institutional frameworks and the need to accelerate SDG6 and human resources development, moderated by Dr. CHHUON Kong.
To wrap up a day of profound knowledge exchange, the workshop was officially brought to a successful close with inspiring final remarks by Dr. KET Pinnara.
A special thanks goes to the dedicated organizing team of GRU and volunteers students for their hard work and commitment behind the scenes to make this event a resounding success!
Thank you to all our speakers, partners, and attendees for making this event a massive step forward for water sustainability!
