E&CO Co., Ltd. Signs EPC Contract with One of the Big Three Shipbuilders in South Korea for an Ammonia Demonstration Facility
E&CO Co., Ltd. has signed an EPC contract with Company S, one of the Big Three shipbuilders in South Korea, to construct an ammonia demonstration facility.
Under this project, E&CO will deliver the entire project on a turnkey EPC basis (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) to build an ammonia testing facility that meets the specifications required by Company S. The company will be responsible for the full project scope, including engineering design, civil construction, fabrication and procurement of major equipment, on-site installation, and final commissioning.
Ammonia engine development and fuel supply systems—considered key technologies for global decarbonization—have recently been gaining significant momentum. At the same time, growing geopolitical uncertainties affecting LNG supply are expected to further increase demand for ammonia as an alternative fuel. As the industry moves toward the commercialization of ammonia-powered engines, establishing reliable testing facilities to secure safety and technical performance has become increasingly important.
With its extensive experience in developing ammonia fuel storage, supply, and demonstration systems, E&CO is expected to leverage its expertise and technological capabilities to successfully deliver the project, with commissioning scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.
