Lab of Mitobiology

Lab of Mitobiology Our lab has focused on unveiling new mitochondrial biology to help people who are suffered from metabolic and age-related diseases.

Our Laboratory are largely interested in Mitochondrial Biology. Mitochondria has been simply recognized as a cellular power plant to generate biological energy, ATP. But, it is too simplified to show a variety of mitochondrial regulatory functions in biology, such as apoptosis, aging, stem cell biology as well as metabolic diseases including obesity, diabetes and neurodegeneration. Thus, our lab h

as focused on unveiling new mitochondrial biology to help people who are suffered from metabolic diseases and to make people free from age-related diseases.

Forget about dusty labs and memorizing formulas. Science, to me, isn't just about geeky stuff with test tubes. It's been my ticket to adventure, like a magic carpet ride that whooshed me from my classroom in Cambodia to labs buzzing with brilliance all around the world – Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, ...

Fasting and glucose shortage activate a metabolic switch that shifts more energy production to mitochondria. This metabolic adaptation ensures energy supply, but also elevates the risk of mitochondrial oxidative damage. Here, we present evidence that metabolically challenged mitochondria undergo act…
