Our company develops miRNA assay kits and early Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis kits using a novel PCR probe named ‘promer system’. Our technologies make the current miRNA analysis methods dramatically more accurate, which make possible to diagnose various diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and cancers early in time as well as accurate. As a first goal to achieve, we are currently focusing on R&D and clinical studies for Alzheimer’s disease.

Competitive advantages
For the similar purpose, there are SYBR Green and Taqman Probe /Molecular Beacon, developed by Qiagen and Applied Biosystem, respectively. However, Promer is outstanding in terms of simplicity, sensitivity, and specificity. It takes less than 2 hours for analysis with a simple design of promer (one step), while other 2 solutions take 3 to 6 hours (2 steps). Also, it is 10 to 100 times more sensitive with higher level of fluorescence. Also, it tells isoform of mi-RNA accurately while others make errors often. Lastly, its price is reasonable at, which is 20~75% cheaper than the competitors.

What is Promer?

Early detection of disease is one of the most important factors for treatment. Especially, it is more difficult to detect genetic disorders. For example, in case of Alzheimer’s disease, it is very important to detect in the early stage to as it becomes much more difficult and expensive to treat as the later detection. Also, prevalence rate could be reduced by 50% by delaying the occurrence. However, PET MRI, the current diagnostic equipment, detects Alzheimer’s disease only over 10 years which means 20% damage in the brain. As a result, Alzheimer’s causes tremendous social expense of USD818bn in 2015, according to the World Alzheimer’s Report 2015 by King’s College.
‘Promer’ is the new type of solution that could analyze DNA structure in a better way, developed by NuriBio. Among many materials, the company focused on mi-RNA (micro- Ribo Nucleic Acid) and SNP (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism). mi-RNA is a small non-coding RNA molecule (containing about 22 nucleotides) that functions in RNA silencing and post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. It is well-known as a bio-marker of Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, Parkinson´s disease, and etc. SNP refers to is a variation in a single nucleotide that occurs at a specific position in the genome.
In order to analyze mi-RNA and SNP, the existing methodology needs a 2primer and 1 probes. A primer is a short strand of RNA that serves as a starting point for DNA synthesis. A probe is used to detect the presence of nucleotide sequences. NuriBio has improved the simplicity, sensitivity and specificity of analysis by developing ‘Promer’ solution that uses only one primer and one promer.
