📌움직이는 공간에서 모빌리티 기반의 건축을 상상하다.
'평행도시' 는 건축과 모빌리티의 경계를 허무는 상상에서 시작합니다. 우리는 보통 건축을 ‘머무는 장소’, 자동차는 ‘이동의 수단’으로 나누어 이해하지만, 기아 PV5는 이 둘의 결합을 통해 움직이면서도 머무를 수 있는 새로운 도시 단위를 제안합니다. 본 프로젝트는 기아의 미래사업기획팀과의 협업을 통해, ‘정지’와 ‘이동’ 사이의 틈에서 탄생하는 감각적이고도 구조적인 가능성을 실험합니다.
전시장에는 실제 생산 라인에서 발생한 부품과 산업적 잔여물은 조형물로 재구성되어 도시의 최소 단위처럼 배치되고, 프로젝션과 모듈 구조는 건축과 공장이 만나는 새로운 도시의 감각을 시각적·신체적으로 전달합니다. 여기서 PV5는 단순한 운송 수단이 아니라, 기능과 거주의 경계를 넘나드는 ‘움직이는 건축물’로 작동하며, 도시라는 개념을 재조립 가능한 플랫폼으로 확장시킵니다.
'평행도시'는 정지, 멈춤, 불완전성처럼 기존 시스템이 놓치는 순간들에서 새로운 감각을 발견합니다. PV5는 고정된 집이 아닌, 구독 가능한 모빌리티 건축으로서, 기술과 인간, 생산과 생활이 함께 얽힌 도시 생태계 안에서 유동적으로 존재합니다.

📌Imagining Mobility-Based Architecture Through Moving Space
Parallel City begins with the imagination of dissolving the line between architecture and mobility. Where architecture is typically understood as a site of dwelling and the automobile as a vehicle for movement, Kia’s PV5 proposes a new urban unit that merges the two—making it possible to inhabit while in motion. Developed in collaboration with Kia’s Future Business Planning Team, the project explores structural and sensory possibilities that emerge in the threshold between ‘stillness’ and ‘movement’.
The project presents components from the actual production line and industrial remnants are reconfigured into sculptural forms arranged like the basic units of a city. Projections and modular structures convey, both visually and physically, the sensation of a new kind of city where architecture and factory intersect. Here, the PV5 functions not as a vehicle of transport but as a ‘moving architecture’ that traverses the boundaries of function and dwelling, expanding the city into a reassemblable platform.
Parallel City finds new possibilities in the overlooked moments of stillness, stoppage, and incompleteness within existing systems. The PV5 emerges as a mobility-based architecture, not a fixed house but a subscribable space of residence, fluidly existing within an urban ecology where technology, humans, production, and life intertwine.
