A Tribute to Octavia

Our hearts at Polar Bear Air Conditioning & Appliance Doctors are broken as we say goodbye to our beloved coworker and friend, Octavia.

Octavia brought an infectious personality, a bright spirit, and a laugh that filled the room—often followed by her famous high-pitched Zimbabwe ululation.

She started as a technician and quickly stood out through her skill, dedication, and genuine love for helping people. Along the way she mentored younger technicians and later became a Comfort Consultant, helping many families find the right air-conditioning solutions for their homes.

At Polar Bear, we believe coworkers become family—and Octavia truly was family. She was loved by our team, our customers, and everyone lucky enough to meet her.

To Octavia’s family: your family is our family. We stand with you throughout the long journey ahead.

To the Cayman community: thank you for the overwhelming love and support you’ve shown.

We choose to honor Octavia by living the way she did—with kindness, laughter, enthusiasm, and by lifting others up.

Rest in peace, Octavia.

We are deeply saddened to share that our beloved Octavia passed away last night after bravely fighting for her life for the past 2 weeks.

On behalf of Octavia’s family & all of us at Polar Bear, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire community for the incredible support shown during this difficult time. Your generosity in donating, sharing the message, and supporting Octavia’s family has meant more than words can express.

The funds raised will now be used to help cover Octavia’s funeral and repatriation costs(if needed), provide immediate care for her surviving children, and support their future needs, including education — a tribute that would truly honor Octavia’s memory and the love she had for her family.

We understand that some donors may prefer a refund. If you wish to request one, please do so by March 16th at 12pm using the link in our bio.
