Strengthening Innovation in Lebanon!
As part of the Lebanon Innovate project, the Industrial Research Institute Lebanon (IRI) and Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) have officially signed an agreement to establish a Technology Transfer Office (TTO) on the NDU campus.
The signing took place in the presence of representatives from both institutions, alongside partners from Berytech, the lead partner of Lebanon Innovate.
This new TTO will play a pivotal role in bridging academic research with industry needs, supporting the identification of innovative ideas, protecting intellectual property, and enabling the commercialization of promising technologies ultimately contributing to economic and societal impact.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to establish eight TTOs across universities and research institutions in Lebanon, supporting a stronger national innovation ecosystem.
Through the Lebanon Innovate voucher scheme, the grant will cover activities such as piloting technology transfer interventions, delivering services to the university community, engaging experts, ensuring needed logistics, developing communication material, and supplying selected equipment to support the office’s operations.
Together, we’re building the foundations for a more innovative, competitive, and knowledge-driven Lebanon.

Day 3 & 4 of our Soft-Landing Mission at the EBN TechCamp in Nivelles 🇧🇪highlighted how innovation is driving real change from AgriTech to autonomous systems.

We explored startups’ challenges and market pain points, including how alternative proteins, superfoods, and novel ingredients are opening new business opportunities and reshaping the future of food. At the same time, the autonomous systems session showed how automation is transforming agriculture, logistics, healthcare, and mobility improving safety, efficiency, productivity, and sustainability for end-users.

These insights help us understand what the future looks like and how we can better support startups in Lebanon through the project. Excited to bring back these learnings and strengthen our innovation ecosystem.

✨ Day 2 of the Soft-Landing Mission – Grand Nancy Innovation Center ✨

Today, the Lebanon Innovate project, supported by ELCIM at Industrial Research Institute Lebanon, continued its immersive experience in Nancy’s dynamic innovation ecosystem. From understanding how startups evolve, from “Wake Me Up” to “Start Me Up” to “Speed Me Up” to exploring the pathways of incubation, acceleration, and outreach, participants gained first-hand insights into how an integrated ecosystem drives growth.

Throughout the day, they interacted with startups, exchanged experiences, and explored how business plans are shaped, supported, and transformed into successful ventures. The team also discovered how Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs) operate and how these models can inspire stronger collaboration back home.

By walking through the premises of Grand Nancy Innovation Center, participants observed the structures, methodologies, and environments that empower early-stage entrepreneurs tools and knowledge they will bring back to Lebanon to strengthen their own KIC communities.

We kicked off our Soft Landing program in France with - European Business & Innovation Centre Network and under the EU Lebanon Innovate program! 🌟

Hosted by , we explored how a full innovation ecosystem, including academia, incubators, regional agencies, industries, and corporates, supports researchers in turning scientific discoveries into startups.

A key focus was on the importance of raising awareness among PhDs and researchers: their mindset is often already that of an entrepreneur, even without realizing it, and the right ecosystem support can help them channel it into innovation and startup creation.

Excited to bring these insights back to Lebanon! 🇱🇧💡
