Haycarb was recognised across multiple areas of excellence at the Sri Lanka Coconut Awards 2026, organised by the Coconut Development Authority of Sri Lanka, with awards spanning export excellence, global market reach and green energy.

For a university student, having the ability to participate fully in education can depend on something as fundamental as access to a computer. Without it, research, online learning, collaboration and increasingly AI-enabled academic tools can remain out of reach.

This is the gap Haycarb’s Sisu Divi Pahana programme seeks to address. Now in its fourth consecutive year, the programme provided laptops to 220 deserving students from 11 state universities across Sri Lanka, twice the number supported in the previous year. By widening access to essential digital tools, the initiative helps students facing financial and social constraints participate more fully in their education and prepare for an increasingly digital world.

The event was attended by Mr. Mohan Pandithage, Chairman of the Hayleys Group; Mr. Rajitha Kariyawasan, Managing Director of Haycarb; Guest of Honour Prof. Terrance Madhujith, Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya; Prof. Amila Sirisena of the University of Ruhuna; and Mr. Chi Feng, our business partner from China.

Our sincere thanks to The Kingsbury Colombo for generously providing the Balmoral as the venue for this year’s event, and to our business partners whose support helped expand the programme’s reach.

Four years into Sisu Divi Pahana, the significance of the programme is not simply the number of laptops distributed. It lies in what those laptops enable by providing greater access to knowledge, greater participation in education and a fairer opportunity for students to realise their potential. Because closing the digital divide begins by putting opportunity within reach.
