It was a bit of struggle to get there until it got totally dark. 🚙⌛️ But I eventually made it in the last minute. 🌅🌧 Maybe that's a reason to stop there again in the future. Even though I'm an atheist, this place is worth a visit.☝🏻
This artificial hill with over 100 000 crosses has a very long story and is symbol of Lithuanian resistance to the occupying Soviet regime.
Pope John Paul II. visited this place and declaring it place for 𝑯𝑶𝑷𝑬, 𝑷𝑬𝑨𝑪𝑬, 𝑳𝑶𝑽𝑬 and 𝑺𝑨𝑪𝑹𝑰𝑭𝑰𝑪𝑬.
You can also find there a stone inscribed with his words: "𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝑳𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒔, 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑯𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝑪𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑬𝒖𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅."
The crosses were also buldozzed several time and survived the fire. People from all over the world constantly bring new crosses here.
The first crosses were erected on the side in the memory of the victims of the Polish November Uprising of 1831 and Polish January Uprising of 1863, who were buried there.
We shouldn't forget and ignore such things from the past.

මේ ගෙවෙන්නෙ අවුරුද්දෙ ලස්සනම දවස්. තවත් විදියකට කිව්වොත් තැඹිලි පාට, කහ පාට, රතු පාට දවස්. සමහර ගස්වල කොළ වල මේ පාට තුනම ඒවා තියනවා. ටික දවසකින් ඒවා ගහෙන් හැලිලා යනවා. හුළඟ එක්ක ඒ කොළ හැලෙනවා බලන්න මම හරි ආසයි.

ඉතිං ඒවා බලද්දි මට හිතෙන්නෙම මේ කාලෙ අපිට කියලා දෙන්නෙ අත්හරින දේත් හරි ලස්සනට අතහරින්න කියල නේද කියලා.

මේ දවස්වල තියෙන්නෙ හරි අමුතු පරිසරයක්.
ලොකුවට සීතල තැතත් සීතල දැනෙන,
ඒ සීතල මැදින් සමහර දවසට ඉර එලිය ඇවිත් සීත රස්නෙ මිශ්‍ර හැඟීමක් දෙන,
ඒ අතරින් දවසක වැහි පොද වැටෙන,
ඒ ඔක්කෝම දවස් වල ගස්වල කොල අපේ ඇගේ ගෑවීගෙන වැටෙන,
හරිම අමුතු ඒත් මායාකාර දවස්.

මේ කාලෙට fall කියන්නෙ ඇයි කියලා මම තනියම කල්පනා කලා. එහෙම කල්පනා කර කර පාරෙ යනකොට අයිස් මිදිලා තිබිලා මම ලිස්සලත් වැටුනා. සමහර විට fall කියන්නෙ එහෙම ලිස්සලා වැටෙන පුලුවන් නිසාත් වෙන්න පුලුවන්.

මේ තැඹිලි පාට දවස් තව සති දෙක තුනකින් ඉවර වෙලා යාවි. ඊට පස්සෙ ඉතිරි වෙන්නෙ ගහේ අතු ටික තමයි. සීත කාලෙ දරාගෙන ඉදලා ඒ ගස් ආයෙ ලස්සනට හිනා වෙනකන් මම ආසාවෙන් බලන් ඉන්නවා 🍂🍁

සතුටින් නෙවෙයි නම් උඹ ඒ වෙනුවෙන් මොනවහරි කරපන්
මූලික දේ උඹෙ සතුට සැනසීම බං

ඒක අවුල් ගියොත් උඹ ළඟින් ඉන්න කව්රුත් අසරණයි බං
ඒ නිසා පරිස්සමෙන් සතුටින් වැඩ කරගෙන ඉස්සරහට පලයන්
