To resolve severe traffic congestion at Kandy’s vital Getambe Junction where the Old Peradeniya–Kandy Road (A1) intersects with the New Peradeniya–Kandy Road (AB42), the Road Development Authority (RDA) initiated the Getambe Flyover Project. Serving as the project's Sub-contractor, Access Engineering PLC (AEL) is constructing a main flyover and branch flyover designed to deliver smooth, uninterrupted vehicle movement across the busy intersection and the adjacent railway corridor.

A critical engineering milestone involved executing advanced deep foundations through bored cast-in-situ piling systems, successfully overcoming challenging ground conditions adjacent to the active railway line, Mada Ela and the Mahaweli River.

Beyond the elevated roadways, the project includes essential ancillary works such as enhanced pedestrian access, modern traffic-management infrastructure, and localized landscaping. Through advanced engineering rigor and sustainable construction practices, AEL continues to deliver infrastructure that elevates urban mobility and supports the long-term growth of Kandy and Sri Lanka.

Initiated in January 2026, under the auspices of the Urban Development Authority (UDA), the design and construction of the 615 housing units at Colombage Mawatha, Kirulapone represents a vital step forward in urban transformation.

The project which involves the continuation and completion of works that had been partially executed by a previous contractor includes executing structural rectifications, modifications and additional substructure and superstructure works required to resume and finalize construction across 615 housing units, each designed with a 500 sq. ft. carpet area.

The project which is scheduled for completion by mid-2028, will contribute to the government’s wider urban housing objectives by delivering a sizeable residential complex within the Colombo urban area.
