What does the future of tomato growing look like? 🌱🍅

It starts with understanding what growers need - from coir substrate performance and consistency to sustainability and evolving crop requirements.

We were pleased to be part of the 2026 British Tomato Conference at Oxford Belfry, organised by the British Tomato Growers' Association, where Mr. Chrishan Mendis, Director – Haylex UK, represented Hayleys Fibre - Sri Lanka.

Being there gave us the opportunity to connect directly with growers, industry professionals and key stakeholders, gaining a closer understanding of the evolving needs of British tomato production.

The conversations highlighted the growing importance of consistent, high-performance coir substrates in modern greenhouse cultivation and the need for growing media solutions that respond to changing crop and grower requirements.

For Hayleys Fibre, these industry connections go beyond conversations. They help us understand growers better, anticipate changing needs and continue developing coconut-based growing media solutions for modern horticulture.

Closer to growers. Closer to what’s next🌿

The World Coconut Day celebration may begin with a day, but the story of the coconut continues beyond the shell 🥥 🌴

It begins by helping things grow, creating favourable conditions for healthy plant development. It continues by helping protect the earth through natural solutions that support soil stabilisation and erosion control. Then, it extends even further, supporting industries through its natural strength, versatility and practical value.

But this is not the end of the story...With every new need, the coconut reveals yet another possibility.

At Hayleys Fibre, we see this journey for what it truly is a natural resource transforming into solutions that matter.

That is what makes the coconut Nature’s Treasure 🌿

It’s World Day of Agriculture! 💚

Every great harvest begins the same way -with someone who believes in tomorrow enough to show up for it, every single day.

🌴🥥There’s something quietly poetic about planting a coconut palm. It asks for nothing but time - years of patience before it gives back. At Hayleys Fibre, we see the coconut as Nature’s Treasure - a gift that nurtures livelihoods, communities and generations.

Yet growers plant it anyway, trusting in a future they may not fully see themselves.

Today, we honour those quiet hands that turn patience into progress, season after season, generation after generation.

Because growth was never meant to be rushed.
It was only ever meant to be nurtured 🌿🌱🍃
