⚓️ Keeping it Cool at Sea: AC Plant Overhaul & Refrigerant Conversion
Our technical team recently completed a comprehensive repair and optimization project on a vessel’s air conditioning plant. The mission? Resolve system blockages, repair wear-and-tear, and convert the refrigerant system back to its original peak-performing state.
Here is a breakdown of the precision work carried out by our engineers:
✅ Leak Detection & Pressure Testing: Conducted a full-circuit inspection followed by nitrogen pressure testing to pinpoint and rectify all leak points, ensuring absolute system tightness.
✅ System Evacuation: Performed deep vacuuming to eliminate moisture and non-condensable gases before charging the system.
✅ Refrigerant Conversion: Successfully converted the system from R448A back to R404A refrigerant per the vessel's request, charging it to optimal operating conditions.
✅ Targeted Repairs: Replaced the damaged vibration damper hose on Compressor Unit No. 01 and swapped out its filter drier core.
✅ De-blocking No. 02 System: Cleared a major gas blockage by pulling and cleaning both thermostatic expansion valves, flushing the suction line, and clearing out sludge accumulation from the compressor suction filter.
✅ Performance Verification: Tested and dialed in the expansion valve settings, concluding with rigorous monitoring of suction/discharge pressures, temperatures, and overall system efficiency.
