🌐 **OSI Model – What Happens to Data as It Travels?**

Have you ever wondered why network data is called a **Segment, Packet, Frame, or Bits**? 🤔

As data moves down through the **OSI Model**, its name changes at different layers:

🔹 **Layers 7–5 | Application, Presentation & Session**
➡️ **Data**

🔹 **Layer 4 | Transport Layer**
➡️ **Segment** — when using **TCP**
➡️ **Datagram** — when using **UDP**

🔹 **Layer 3 | Network Layer**
➡️ **Packet**

🔹 **Layer 2 | Data Link Layer**
➡️ **Frame**

🔹 **Layer 1 | Physical Layer**
➡️ **Bits** — the actual 0s and 1s transmitted across the network.

# # # 📦 Remember the Flow

**Data → Segment/Datagram → Packet → Frame → Bits**

This process is called **Data Encapsulation**. As data moves down the OSI layers, each layer adds its own control information to prepare the data for transmission.

💡 **Easy way to remember:**

**Data → Segment → Packet → Frame → Bits**
