Sand Blasting System for Mould Cleaning – Off-Road Tyre Manufacturer

A globally renowned tyre manufacturer approached us for a specialized mould cleaning system designed for their off-road tyre moulds. While sand blasting is not a conventional solution in modern applications due to safety concerns, this method was deemed necessary as traditional shot blasting could not be used without risking deformation of the sensitive moulds.

The client’s requirements included a mould placement bed capable of tilting up to 30 degrees, ensuring optimal cleaning accessibility for operators. The system was equipped with an integrated sand recovery mechanism, enhancing efficiency and minimizing waste.

The solution was successfully implemented, meeting the client’s stringent operational and safety standards while delivering exceptional cleaning performance.

Dust Collector Improvement for an Off-Road Tyre Manufacturer

An off-road tyre manufacturing company with a global presence engaged our team to assess and improve their dust containment plant for carbon rubber. During our initial visit, we observed that the dust collection system required monthly servicing to remain operational, which was impractical. A well-designed dust collection system should typically operate for 5–6 months without servicing, as the pulsing mechanism continuously dislodges accumulated dust. However, periodic maintenance is still necessary to ensure long-term efficiency.

Identified Defects
1. **Improper Pulsing Pipe Installation:** The pulsing pipes were not aligned correctly, preventing the compressed air from being effectively directed toward the filter bags for automated cleaning.
2. **Faulty Solenoid Valves:** Defective solenoid valves disrupted the pulsing mechanism, reducing the system's self-cleaning capability.
3. **Clogged Filter Bags:** The filter bags were heavily clogged, necessitating replacement to restore proper airflow and dust capture efficiency.
4. **Inefficient System Configuration:** The dust collector consisted of two completely isolated blocks, each with a separate blower. While this was intended to enhance performance, improper maintenance led to operational inefficiencies.

Implemented Improvements:
- Repositioned and secured the pulsing pipes to ensure optimal compressed air distribution.
- Replaced defective solenoid valves to restore the automated cleaning function.
- Installed new filter bags to improve dust capture and airflow.
- Optimized the dual-block system to ensure balanced performance between the two units.

Results
Following these improvements, the dust collection system's service interval extended to **5–6 months**, as designed. The extraction velocities remained consistent, significantly reducing downtime and maintenance costs while enhancing operational efficiency.

This upgrade ensured reliable, long-term performance, aligning with industry best practices for dust containment in rubber manufacturing.

A globally reputed hand glove manufacturer sought a solution for oil mist emissions generated during their knitting machine cleaning process. The process utilized a highly viscous oil, and previous attempts at mitigation, including water mixing and helical separation, proved ineffective. Consequently, oil particulate settled on both the client's facilities and those of neighboring companies, resulting in complaints and environmental nuisance.

To address this issue, an oil mist separator was proposed. The system incorporated a two-stage filtration process:

Primary Filtration: A stainless steel 304 (SS304) interwoven mesh was employed to remove 60-70% of the oil.

Secondary Filtration: A chamber containing cartridge drums packed with a high-density wool-like material was implemented to capture the fine oil particulates that bypassed the primary filtration stage.

This dual-filtration system achieved zero emissions, effectively resolving the client's oil mist containment problem.
