The Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) is conducting a one-day validation workshop on the Embedded Generation (EG) Regulation and proposed amendments to the Electricity Licensing and Micro-Utility Licensing Regulations at the Murex Plaza in Monrovia.

The workshop has brought together key stakeholders, including Acting Chairman of the Board of Commissioners Hon. Amara M. Kamara, Cllr. Kla-Edward Toomey, II, Deputy Minister for Energy at the Ministry of Mines and Energy Hon. The Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) today opened its sub-office in Gompa City, Nimba County.

The regional office will oversee technical and customer-related issues across Jungle Energy Power (JEP) and Totota Electric Cooperative (TEC) licensed areas in Nimba and B**g counties.

The opening ceremony was attended by local government officials.

The Commission has successfully concluded public hearings on LIBENERGY’s tariff application, with the final session held today at Harper City Hall in Maryland County.

In total, six hearings were conducted across LIBENERGY’s licensed areas, including Tappita City (Nimba County), Grand Gedeh, River Gee, and Maryland Counties. These engagements provided stakeholders with an opportunity to share their views and concerns.

During the hearings, stakeholders emphasized the need for a reduction in the proposed tariff, alongside improvements in service delivery.

The new office will oversee technical and customer-related issues across LIBENERGY’s licensed areas in Maryland, River Gee, and Grand Gedeh Counties, as well as Tappita in Nimba County.

Public hearings on LIBENERGY’s tariff application continued today in Fish Town City, River Gee County, with strong participation from local government officials, stakeholders, customers, civil society organizations, and youth and women’s groups.

Participants raised important concerns about the reliability of electricity supply, the need for tariff reductions, and expanding the grid to increase access across communities. In addition, participants asked questions and contributed valuable perspectives on how LIBENERGY in collaboration with the Liberia Electricity Corporation can improve service delivery.
