Starting a 3D printing business? Here's advice from someone who's done it.

We had a good conversation with Sam, founder and designer of Forgemaster Miniatures, to talk about what it really takes to build a miniature printing business from the ground up.

Two insights stood out:

𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱. Choosing a premium resin from day one is a good way to attract loyal customers. The quality of your prints is what earns trust, drives repeat purchases, and builds long-term loyalty.

𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 must. If you're building something sustainable, proper safety practices need to be embedded from the start. We've published a detailed blog post debunking the most common resin safety myths (link in the comments).

You land a project that demands specific 3D printing resin properties. Hardness, flexibility, detail, whatever the spec calls for.

The logical move? Order a few different resins, run test prints, compare results, and choose the one that fits best.

Except most suppliers won't let you do that.

Their minimum order quantities mean you'd need to buy way more than you need for a test. You are forced to commit before you even know whether the resin is good for the job.

You guess and hope for the best, so your client gets a "good enough" result instead of the right one.

At AmeraLabs, there's no MOQ. Order one bottle of three different resins, test them all against your project requirements, and choose with confidence. Then scale up once you know exactly what works.

You shouldn't have to gamble thousands just to find the right material.
