Reflecting on 40 years in our last post naturally led us to think about the real driving force behind our journey: our people.

Long before global infrastructure projects and high tech networks, our story started in Junglinster with just a handful of people and a huge vision. By 1991, we moved to Hollerich as our team grew and our foundations took shape.

Those early days were all about hands on engineering, figuring things out together, and laying the groundwork for four decades of innovation. Today, the tools have changed, but that exact same spirit remains.

Over the next few weeks, we are taking you behind the scenes! You will hear directly from our team about what it felt like on their very first day, the core values that drive us, a peek into our daily work, and our vision for what comes next.

How do you go from a garage in Junglinster to engineering the next generation of secure space communications? 🇱🇺

In 1986, HITEC Luxembourg started with just 3 people and a vision to make complex engineering disciplines work together. Our very first partner, Goodyear Luxembourg, trusted us from day one. And we are incredibly proud to still stand by their side 40 years later.

Recently, at the Centre Culturel Op der Schéiss, we paused to look at how far that vision has taken us.

Today, we are:

👷🏼‍♀️ A dedicated, multi-disciplinary team, proudly operating from our headquarters in Mamer.

🌎 Delivering critical infrastructure and high-tech solutions across five continents.

🇱🇺 Partnering with key industries and governments to shape secure, mission-critical technologies.

We were deeply honored to celebrate this milestone alongside His Excellency, Prime Minister Luc Frieden, Aldermen of the City of Luxembourg, Corinne Cahen and, Laurent Mosar, the Mayor of Mamer, Luc Feller, our team, clients, partners, and alumni who have written this story with us.

As our Chairman Yves Elsen shared, we survived and thrived through four decades of technology shifts by choosing never to stand still. We choose to ride the wave of change—and we do it together.

Connecting Earth to a satellite travelling at 7 km/s leaves no room for approximation. 📡

Last week, we hosted a series of expert delegations at our facility to explore the capabilities of our OGS BELUCA 080. Developed within the INT-UQKD initiative alongside Starion, SpeQtral and ESA - European Space Agency, it will play a critical role in the space-based quantum key distribution system.

As our CEO Philippe Osch shared in the INT-UQKD press release:
💬 “We were pleased to present to our visitors the features of our OGS, which will enable the critical link between Earth and a satellite travelling at 7 kilometres per second overhead, with a communication window of just a few minutes. For our team, being part of a project of this scale is a milestone in itself, and one we’re incredibly proud of.”

Building sovereign infrastructure is a team sport that relies on deep collaboration to connect Earth to orbit. It’s been great to share this with experts from the LSA, SMC, ESA, and our partners from the academic and defence sectors.

At HITEC, excellence means two things: performing at the highest level, and doing it responsibly.

The past few weeks have brought major milestones on both fronts:

👷🏼 Operational excellence & safety
We successfully completed our ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and AQAP 2110 surveillance audit. Our auditors from ESCEM asbl explicitly highlighted two key strengths: a clear, future-aligned governance driven by leadership, and the deep technical expertise of our frontline teams.

♻️ Sustainability & corporate responsibility
Following our CSR assessment by the Institut National pour le Développement durable et la Responsabilité sociale des entreprises (RSE) at the end of May, we were proud to celebrate our progress at the official label ceremony on June 16. A recognition that reflects our long-term commitment to building a more sustainable and responsible company.

Both results carry the same message: this is the daily work of our people!
