GetToKnowBSI!

Preamplifier configurations.

When integrating HPGe gamma spectrometers into analytical systems or existing lead shielding, unexpected constraints on standard component size or placement may occur and become critical. That’s why, besides various cryostat configurations, we can manufacture our detectors with several preamplifier designs to meet diverse installation needs.

To support complex setups, we offer following preamplifier options:
- Standard coaxial cylindrical design — mounted directly next to the detector
- Cylindrical preamplifier offset along the cryostat — for tighter detector integration scenarios
- Box-type preamplifier mounted on the cryostat side — when alternative geometry is required or a preamplifier is to be away from the detector, for instance, in ultralow-background design.

This flexibility allows our customers to seamlessly incorporate HPGe detectors into custom systems while maintaining optimal performance.

Great News from BSI!

Starting at the end of 2025, all our electrically cooled Monolith HPGe detectors will become significantly more energy-efficient.

Our team continuously works on improving our instruments, and Monolith is no exception. We have succeeded in reducing both peak and nominal power consumption.

The cooled detector now operates at approximately 70 watts, compared to the previous 100–140 watts. This improvement means lower operational costs, higher efficiency, and even greater convenience for our users.
