Mūsu doktorants Nauris Silkāns prezentē progresu un sasniegtos rezultātus LACHMAT projekta ietvaros, pētot šķiedru optisko sensoru tīklu lietojumu ceļa seguma uzraudzībai.

Optiskās šķiedras sensori nodrošina augstas izšķirtspējas reāllaika tehniskā stāvokļa monitoringu. To integrēšana asfalta segumos nākotnē varētu ļaut veikt ceļu infrastruktūras uzraudzību tīkla mērogā, palīdzot efektīvāk apsaimniekot infrastruktūru un pagarināt tās kalpošanas laiku.

We’re continuing to advance our interconnection device designed for seamless switching between wireless technologies. Recent proof-of-concept testing shows promising results - with improved switching speeds and enhanced connection stability between Wi-Fi and private 5G networks.

📶 Our current focus is on QoS/QoE requirements for delivering reliable Internet services to automotive systems. We’ve completed the first phase, including:
✔️ A comprehensive analysis of existing automotive connectivity solutions
✔️ Evaluation of their strengths, limitations, and requirements
✔️ Insights into future Internet traffic trends and service demands

📄The "TRANSFER" team has also submitted a scientific paper titled “Propagation Analysis of 4G/5G Mobile Networks Along Railway Lines: Implications for FRMCS Deployment in Latvia” to an MDPI journal. This paper investigates propagation characteristics and will serve as a scientific foundation for the future development of Interconnection device, particularly for railway applications.

Last week, representatives of Rohde & Schwarz from Latvia and Finland visited the RTU Institute of Photonics, Electronics and Telecommunications to deliver the seminar “Oscilloscope & Probing” for lecturers and students 🔧📈

Participants deepened their understanding of oscilloscope operating principles and probing technologies, with a special focus on bandwidth, sampling rate, memory usage, resolution, and signal triggering/synchronization. The practical demonstrations also covered the impact of probe loading, the importance of grounding, measurement system bandwidth, and electrical safety 📊✨

Thank you to the Rohde & Schwarz team for a professional and valuable seminar, and to all participants for their active engagement! 🙌

✨The “TRANSFER” project team participated in the Photonics and Electromagnetics Research Symposium (PIERS) 2025 in Chiba, Japan, and successfully presented two scientific papers addressing methodologies for testing and enhancing the stability and usability of Open 5G networks in line with the project’s core objectives -
“Implementation of Cognitive Radio on an SDR platform within a Private 5G Open Radio Access Network” and “Hybrid Convolutional and Recurrent Neural Networks for Nonlinear Distortion Compensation in Fiber-Optic Communication Lines”.

👉Photonics and Electromagnetics Research Symposium, also known as Progress in Electromagnetics Research Symposium, provides an international forum for reporting progress and recent advances in the modern development of electromagnetics, photonics and exciting applications. PIERS has become a major symposium in the area related to electromagnetics. PIERS Journals are a family of journals supported by the proceeds of PIERS meetings.

👉The “TRANSFER” project team continues their work on developing an interconnection device for seamless roaming between different digital communication network technologies. The research on the required modules has been completed, and the main activity now is the proof-of-concept device — testing the switching speeds between Wi-Fi and the private 5G network.
