http://www.emu.ee/ Nevertheless, high production costs have limited the introduction of this resource into global biofuel production. Current research activities in lignocellulosics are related to production of high val

ue, specific chemicals, however, to minimise energy dependency and shortage issues, the requirement for fuel technologies are still high in both India and Europe. The aim of this project is to research the possibilities for developing efficient processes to transform e.g. agricultural lignocellulosic biomass and agricultural residues into different biofuels through thermochemical or biochemical conversion in small to medium scale biofuel production systems. A new idea of biorefinery concept will be achieved by the introduction of enzyme production and recycling technologies at production sites and complete conversion of monomeric sugars. The project will address all three stages of the integrated process for biofuel production from biomass.
