''Jugohrom Alzar LTD'', old name "Jugohrom Ferroalloys LTD'' is a private company whose main function is the production of ferrosilicon. The production capacities are located in Jegunovce, 45 km west from the capital city of Skopje. The main products of the company are ferroalloys that contain silicon: ferrosilicon FeSi 65, FeSi 75, Si metal. Traditionally, the "Jugohrom Ferroalloys" LTD - Jegunov
ce ferroalloys are primarily used in the steel industry. Namely, Si metal increases the firmness of the steel, of its tightening, the limits of flexibility and fluidity; it decreases the oxidation, just as the losses while using the electric power. The main ferroalloys components that contain silicon are used as additives for oxidation in the process of dissolution of almost all types of steel and for decrease of the reducer to get different metals and alloys with the silico-thermal method. Ferroalloys that contain silicon are widely used for alloying special steels: electro-thermal and fireproof, steel for making springs and for constructing building constructions, such as steel with high amount of carbon for the instruments manufacture etc. Ferrosilicon is greatly used for making thermite mixtures, for ennobling coals and concentrates, and in many other phases of the coloured and black metallurgy production. The technical silicon is used to get coloured metals (A1 Si), silicon bronze, alloys that contain silicon and magnesium. It can also be positively used in the production which is based on new technologies, like the electronic equipment, solar batteries etc. Here we can name only a few of the main types of usage of ferrosilicon and Si metal in more industrial branches. They are also used in many more processes and phases in the industry and they represent a significant component in the production that is thightly connected to the development of new technologies. "Jugohrom Ferroalloys" LTD - Jegunovce yearly produces approximately 60 000 - 70 000 tones ferroalloys, and the company is ready to enlarge the production based on well-known customers. Despite the export finances that go from the company to the Republic of Macedonia budget, it also brings about for the advancement of the state economy by using most of its raw materials from home origin. Namely, over 50% of the distributers are from Macedonia.
