Structural engineers must determine the basic information such as
1) material properties of the structure
2) loads on structure
3) support conditions
4) geometry of the structure.
So that can determine structure’s deformation, internal forces, stresses, support reactions and stability of the structure.
There are several analysis methods to get the analysis results and structural engineers can start design the structures based on the results.
For structural analysis and design, structural engineers have to comply one of the relevant building codes to get the cost effective and safety structure.
