Construction of Central Expressway Project, Sri Lanka
Section 3 – Package 1R – Ramp D
The System Interchange connecting CEP 2 to CEP 3 at Pothuhera comprises four ramps, with Ramp D featuring a three-span bridge. The middle span consists of two 45m-long box girders, while the adjacent spans are formed by 25m-long pretensioned inverted T girders. Due to site constraints, the box girders are constructed using in-situ casting, employing a formwork shoring system in combination with steel box girder formwork.
Our scope of work includes the construction of the Ramp D bridge superstructure, covering two abutments, two piers, and the two box girders, along with the associated post-tensioning works. The scope further involves launching 20 of the 25m-long pretensioned inverted T girders using a 150-ton crawler crane. We also supply elastomeric bearings for the girders and reuse steel box girder formwork from a previous project, modified to match the site-specific requirements and concrete profile of the box girders.
Leveraging the engineering expertise of our team, we are committed to completing its scope within a 10-month time frame, supporting the main contractor in achieving the overall project completion deadline by the end of 2026.
