Silence in the face of serious allegations is frightening. It can stem from many causes: the complexity of the issue, the lack of clear evidence, or even the self-defense mechanism of a system that does not want to acknowledge the existence of its own flaws and shortcomings. However, rushing to deny and label the accuser as “mentally ill” or “disobedient” without a transparent and fair investigative process is a betrayal of the principle of justice itself. A humane society is not one without accusations, but one that listens, investigates objectively, and protects the most vulnerable. Institutions, no matter how powerful, need public scrutiny and accountability to ensure that power is not abused. In short, while the truth of any particular allegation needs to be clarified through scientific and legal methods, the core principle remains the same: every voice deserves to be taken seriously. Rather than silence or denial, we need to build transparent and compassionate mechanisms where truth is respected and justice is protected. Only then can we build a truly safe and fair community for all, regardless of status or circumstance.
