Our member Sanfa Nazeefa, represented Women in Tech Maldives at the UNODC SAN-PVE Regional Meeting in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

She presented on youth-led and youth-inclusive approaches to digital resilience, sharing our experiences in cyber safety awareness, digital literacy, youth empowerment, and community engagement.

Nazeefa's presentation beautifully reflected the work, experiences, and lessons emerging from our initiatives across the Maldives, while bringing our community's perspectives into a wider regional conversation.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences, learn from regional perspectives, and explore collaborative approaches to strengthening youth resilience and safer online communities.

We are grateful to UNODC - United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for creating this platform for regional dialogue and to National Counter Terrorism Centre - Maldives for supporting our participation and representation at the meeting.

Thank you to Mindco for the opportunity to be part of this important discussion on Day
As our President Nahza Ibrahim (Nah Za) , shared during the panel — awareness alone is not enough. Real impact comes from action, sustained support, and truly inclusive decision-making.

In the Maldives, women make up only 16% of the government digital sector. This is a clear reminder that we need to move beyond conversations and actively create space for women in strategic and decision-making roles.

At Women in Tech Maldives, we are working towards this through initiatives such as AI dialect projects, AI literacy programs, and partnerships with organizations like UNESCO’s W4EAI. We are also intentionally incorporating AI into our flagship programmes to ensure girls and women are not just participants in the digital future, but active creators of it.

It was truly inspiring to hear from the incredible women on the panel who are actively working in the tech sector, making a difference, and paving the way for the next generation of girls.

AI systems are only as unbiased as the data and the teams behind them. By leaving old stereotypes behind, we ensure the future is robust, inclusive, and free from the biases of the past.

A better digital future needs girls’ perspectives, voices, and leadership.

Wishing a very Happy Girls in ICT Day to our amazing members and to every girl and woman breaking barriers in this field. Keep learning, keep leading, and keep striving for the future you deserve.
