*LUANAR BIOTECHNOLOGY ALUMNI WIN BIG IN THE YOUTH INNOVATION FUND*!
Madalitso Chimpeni (Class of 2017) and Steven Malemia (Class of 2017) of Mpepu Energy, one of Malawiโ€™s few Biotech StartUps with an emphasis on Renewable Energy have been selected as the beneficiary of a grant as the first cohort of Youth Innovation Fund (YIF) in the tier 3 Category. The tier 3 category is the 15 million to 30 million kwacha range. Mpepu Energyโ€™s project will focus on providing a Utility service for electricity for remote areas using wind. An innovation that is bound to bring light to marginalised and hard to reach areas, resulting in self reliant and developing communities. Madalitso ad Steven are graduates of the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) with degrees in Biotechnology. Congratulations, Congratulations!

This past Thursday, the biotechnology club held a elections for the new executive of the club. During her speech, the president, Chisomo Sabantini spoke of the achievements as well as the failures of the old executive team. Some of the achievements include bioethanol project implementation, fundraising activities for the
Project, a panel discussion among others.
Some of the failures the team failed to implement which the president spoke of were motivational talks with secondary schools, seminars, medical council approval among others...

We are excited to invite you to an engaging and thought-provoking panel discussion happening tomorrow titled "Biotechnology in Animal Production: Innovations, Welfare Implications, and Ethical Considerations," co-organized by AnimalsMatter265, a student-based animal welfare organization, and the Biotechnology Students Club. This event aims to explore the cutting-edge advancements in biotechnology, their impact on animal welfare, and the ethical questions they raise in the context of animal production.
