Recently client asked : is UT the best NDT method?
Its a good question- and one that comes up quite often.
Different NDT methods don't compete - they complement each other.
RT might show volumetric defects clearly.
UT can pick up planar indications that RT might miss.
VT can sometimes catch issues before any advanced method is even needed
Each method has strengths
Each method has Limitations
Relying too much on single method technique can create blind spots.
That's why a good Inspection strategy isn't just about performing NDT- its about choosing the right combination of methods for the situation.
In the end it's not about which method is "best" its about understanding what each one can - and can't - tell you
