Drone Link participated in the official launch of the Civil Society Agriculture Network (CISANET) 2026–2031 Strategic Plan at the Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe this May. As the agricultural sector shifts toward smarter food systems transformation and urgent climate resilience, the timing of this new 5-year roadmap couldn't be more precise. For us, this milestone is a powerful validation of where agricultural technology needs to go. Our precision drone technology directly aligns with CISANET’s new vision by providing smallholder farmers and agricultural networks with the real-time aerial data, crop health monitoring, and climate-mapping tools necessary to build a truly resilient, food-secure Malawi. By integrating drone data with localized agricultural governance, we are ready to help translate CISANET's strategic priorities into actionable, data-driven climate solutions on the ground.

Our drones help change the world and not just show the world. By capturing high-resolution aerial data and critical crop health insights, we turn overhead views into actionable strategies. We help farmers make better decisions on their farms, reducing waste and maximizing yields season after season.

Our training on May 5th and 6th was a massive success, proving that the hunger for agricultural innovation in Malawi is even bigger than we imagined. We focused on the Mitundu EPA with a goal of 100 people, and we were thrilled to have farmers and extension workers participate. The energy was incredible, with interest pouring in from all over the country, all eager to see how AI and drones can transform our fields.

The most important takeaway came when we looked at the tools farmers actually use daily. Because many rely on basic feature phones, our partner Druid are now shifting focus to sending AI crop alerts via simple text messages. This ensures that our technology is practical, accessible, and ready to work for every farmer in the community.

A huge thank you to the U.S. Embassy Lilongwe and the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders team for making this Reciprocal Exchange possible. Special thanks also to the Development Officer (DO) and the AEDOs of Mitundu EPA for their incredible local leadership. Together, we are bridging the gap between global innovation and local impact.

The Mandela Washington Fellowship is a program of the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by IREX.

This International Women’s Day, Drone Link is taking a moment to celebrate the diverse expertise that drives our world forward. We are inspired by the women who lead across every sector from the technical to the tactical, and the clinical to the communal.
Today, we honor the professionals who shape our daily lives:

The Microbiologists and Computer Scientists solving problems for our today and tomorrow
The Nurses and Lecturers who provide care and knowledge today.
The Accountants, Data Scientists, and Board Advisors who build the frameworks for global success.
The experts in the Agri-Value Chain who sustain our communities from the ground up.

These women, and many more, represent the brilliance and resilience that keep our industries and societies thriving. To the leaders, the innovators, and the change-makers: We see your work, and we celebrate your impact.

This week, our Founder Rachel Kumwenda Kaunda Kaunda received the Women of Substance Award, Women in Science presented by Pan African Learning and Growth Network & Ritz Attorneys at Law

In a month filled with advocacy and acknowledgment, this one hit differently.

Because this award isn't just about celebrating a woman. It's about celebrating precision. It's about celebrating scientific excellence in an industry that often gets distracted by mere drone flight.

At Drone Link, Rachel built something that refuses to settle for good enough. she pushed us to ask the harder questions: Does it solve? Does it measure? Does it last?

Here's something most people don't know about drones,

The average commercial drone captures images at 20 megapixels. Ours capture at 60. But resolution alone doesn't solve problems.

What matters is georeferencing accuracy the ability to stitch thousands of images into a single map with precision down to 2 centimeters. What matters is multispectral data that sees beyond what the human eye can detect, plant health, soil composition, structural stress invisible to ground inspectors.

We're not taking photos. We're creating digital twins of reality. We're building datasets that tell engineers exactly where a bridge will fail before it fails. We're giving farmers the intelligence to increase crop yields without wasting a single drop of water.

Infrastructure challenges don't care about gender. They care about technical mastery. They care about data integrity. They care about results.

To the young women watching this month's celebrations from the sidelines, You don't need to wait for a seat at the table. Learn the math. Master the sensors. Own the data

Congratulations, Rachel.
