CELEBRATING A MILESTONE: Sunnyenergy at the DSS/RBF Pilot Project Closing Gala! 🎉
Sunnyenergy is proud and excited to have participated in the EnDev Demand-Side Subsidies (DSS) / Results-Based Financing (RBF) Pilot Project, which officially concluded at the DSS/RBF Pilot Closing Gala held on 3 June 2026 at Sunbird Capital Hotel, Lilongwe.
This project was more than an implementation exercise. It was a practical demonstration of how targeted financing, verified results, strong partnerships, and data-driven beneficiary identification can improve access to clean and affordable energy solutions for underserved communities.
Through the DSS/RBF model, eligible beneficiaries were identified using data from the Malawi Social Registry, formerly UBR. This helped ensure that energy access support reached the communities that needed it most. The experience strengthened our commitment to delivering sustainable energy solutions through accountable systems, community engagement, and effective last-mile distribution.
We are grateful to Endev, GIZ Malawi, the Ministry of Energy, Self Help Africa, CUMO Microfinance, the German Embassy Lilongwe, and all partners who supported this important initiative.
As this pilot phase comes to an end, we are excited by the evidence, partnerships, and lessons learnt through the project. For Sunnyenergy, the mission continues: expanding access to clean, affordable, and sustainable energy solutions for more households and communities in Malawi.
